What is a Probate Court?

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Amit Mehta Probate court is the division of the court that usually deals with estates, wills, and the assets left behind when a person dies. Probate court records are extensive and full of interesting information not only about the people you deal with everyday, but also about people that lived before you were born. If you are interested in researching your family roots, a perusal of probate court records will prove to be invaluable. Probate court records can tell you all the things about your great grandparents that your own parents might not have known. You can often learn about marriages, divorces, and even lawsuits that they may have been involved in. Probate court records deal with your ancestors estates and that could help you in your research by giving you clues to properties that your family owned. Once you have the information about property that probate court records provide, you can start to search census reports that you would have never found. Probate court records can sometimes tell you if any of your family members were adopted or ever went under different names. Probate court records are more than just a way to research the past. The information contained in probate court records can be put to use in your everyday life. With a quick search through probate court records, you can learn exactly what your rich great aunt left to your parents, who the executor of her will was, and how much money she really had. You can even research if the will was contested and who it was contested by. Probate court records can help you to learn the truth about someone when you think that they are being less than forward with information. If you are suspicious about the claims of someone you just met, a search through probate court records could confirm your suspicions. A simple search of a few probate court documents could tell you everything you need to know about an inheritance that someone claims to have received. It can also give you information about the exact contents of an estate, or the exact dimensions of a property you are considering for purchase. You can even search through probate court records to find out if someone has ever gone by a different name or who their family members are. A will often names many members of a family as beneficiaries, so researching probate court records could give you clues to family members you didnt know a person had. Probate court keeps extensive records of information that is not only interesting, but could prove to be very valuable. When you are looking for background information on an individual, probate court records are a great place to begin your search. Nuts, Wine, Chocolate and Intuitive Eating

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Sara Thompson I must be dreaming (but please dont wake me up!) Nuts, red wine and dark chocolate-oh my; now these are three foods I could live on. The very idea brings to mind the game my family and I use to play as kids on long car trips: if you were on an island and could only have three foods, what would you choose to bring? Recent research has conclusively proved that in moderation, nuts, red wine, and dark chocolate are all good elements of a healthy diet which can help prevent various ailments. While this flies in the face of all we have ever been told; it raises the issue of, how we know what is truly healthy for us and how do we make good food choices in the midst of continually changing information. We are continually bombarded with so much information about diet, nutrition, exercise, and health, and so much of it is confusing and often contradictory; that too often, too many of us have been left wondering: what information can we truly use to make accurate and educated choices? In my experience, there is an intuitive component to the integration of all the dietary information we continually digest (no pun intended). Intuition is defined as the sense of knowing something in a visceral way, without necessarily having an intellectual or rational explanation for that knowledge. I believe that to find an intuitive answer to the question, what foods do I eat? we have to slow down and listen…better-trusting our bodies to tell us what we need. I suggest that intuitive eating, as I call it, is the healthiest way to eat but by far the more difficult approach to master. Such intuitive eating means listening to our body systems rather than simply following ad nauseam the latest dos and donts craze. Making intuitive eating a component of a healthy lifestyle means tuning in to how we feel after we eat; it means looking at our choices in regards to portion and type, and it means thinking about what foods gave us the most benefit. It means hearing our bodies and nurturing our desires in an attempt to master our own habits and urges. Intuitive eating is tailored specifically to each one of us—for we are each unique with different needs and goals! Every regimen should in some way involve listening to what the body is trying to convey. In a way, its letting the body do what it does bestself regulation. Such body mechanisms are an evolutionary necessity, and a clue to how we should lead our lives in regard to healthy consumption. We just need to listen. Nuts, dark chocolate and wine anyone? Deciding on Lawn Care Contractors

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Steve Frasher Hiring a professional to care for your lawn is not a bad idea if you can afford the help. Lawn care is often a task homeowners feel they can handle on their own. Often they hate the idea of paying others to do something that they are perfectly capable of doing themselves. They spend their weekends working in the yard and mowing the grass only to find that their precious free time is almost entirely consumed by their yard. Many homeowners find it is well worth the money to have professionals care for their yard, so that they can spend their free time on more enjoyable things. There are many types of lawn care companies to consider when trying to find the one that fits best for you. Some companies offer fertilizing, mowing, landscaping, pruning, planting, and everything under the sun. Others may only mow your lawn for you. Before calling a lawn pro, make sure you decide what you want to accomplish by hiring help and what your budget is. Once you have determined your needs, you can call around and get pricing. Pricing alone should not be your main concern…reliability, quality of work, and customer service are all important factors to consider. What else should you do when looking for a lawn care pro? We recommend: Ask your friends and neighbors to see if they have had good or bad experiences with local lawn care companies. Simply knowing that another person has had a good experience with a company prior to calling them lessens your chance of hiring a problem. If you have the time, call a few companies to look at your lawn. This will help you determine fair market price for your job. This does not mean you should always go with the lowest price…you should go with the company you feel most comfortable with and who you feel will do the best job. If a company or individual is offering a real low price you should ask yourself “why?”. Make sure the company has insurance. Always get a statement of work performed in writing. Keep this filed away. Make sure the statement clearly states what work is to be performed, how often, and for what price. Make sure that your estimate states the term you are agreeing to. There is no need to sign a year long term right off the bat before you know if the company is good. Good luck with your lawn care needs! Sports Marketing - Find Out Why More and More Companies are Choosing It

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Riccardo Taf Anybody who works in marketing knows well that one of the first and most important thing to do is target definition. Target definition requires a systematic approach: from the analysis of the needs of the market to the analysis of the existence of an economic potential going through the market borders definition till the selection of the sector/sections of the market to be considered. Companies are increasingly choosing to reach their target using innovative tools such as CRM, guerrilla marketing, one to one etc. etc. Consumers preferences and wishes are changing on a daily basis and marketing strategies have to follow this constant transformation if they want to be effective. As a consequence companies must be flexible and ready to change quickly their marketing instrument. Sports marketing is an effective marketing tools , it gives a company the opportunity to leverage on the passion that consumers have for sports. To sponsor something doesn’t mean simply to appear with one’s logo on the shirts of a football team or on the board around the playfield. To be sponsor means to be able to transfer to the brand or to the company the sports’ positive value reaching at the same time via the passion the heart of the consumer. Sports marketing is one of the most effective way to reach a specific target because just as every product has got its target of consumers, every sport has got its target of fans, viewers and followers. So companies need to select among all the different sports the one which gets the highest number of people in target, check TV and other media coverage, understand what is the competition doing , look at the sports market and device a communication plan based on it. This extreme simplification doesn’t have to mislead you to think that planning a sponsorship programme is an easy task. There are so many different players around a sport event , just to name a few: athletes, clubs, promoters, sponsors, agents, tv and other media , supporters and so on that in order to be sure that everything is properly taken care of one needs to manage carefully any and each aspects. Marketing plans always start from imagination and creativity but results are achieved only through good planning and perfect implementation, because of this a sport marketing programme requires A Specific research to evaluate the congruency between product and sport A careful exam of the chosen sport’s market to reach an agreement with the most trustworthy partner A good communication campaign Constant and targeted PR Reliable People on field In few words one needs a steady organization with a lot of experience and a professional approach in order to be sure to get the most out of a sponsorship. A Comfy Wheel Chair Is More Than Equipment For A Disabled

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Javier Fuller Mostly all kinds of disability affect your mobility to some extent. While disabilities like Parkinson’s and Lou Gehrig’s affect your mobility to a great extent. Even the strong-willed people become depressed under such conditions. Self-pity and self-condemnation take hold in them. Under such grim conditions, the person is bound to become cynical. Solitary confinement is one of the greatest types of punishment. In such a grave situation, the importance of mobility is apparent more than ever. Think overWhat if some one takes a person on a wheel-chair to the lush green lawns of the park nearby! Everyday for some hours, away from the dark corners of your bedroom! By seeing the world moving around, the positive vibrations of the green wealth, the pleasant view of the sun and the moon, good effects will stay in the patients mind. This may not have any impact on the physical disability but the depressed mind will cry in joy. Hence a wheel chair is more than equipment for a person whose mobility is hampered because of disability. There are many types of wheel chairs available these days. One recommended option is lift chairs. Lift chairs help the disable person get up from the sitting position and back. A sense of enjoyment in living the normal life, temporarily though, is a great psychological advantage. Persons suffering from knee and hip problems due to accidents or muscular weakness will find the services of the lift chair invaluable. There are many types of multi-purpose lift chairs suitable for patients of all types of disabilities. These chairs also serve the purpose of a recliner, couch, an ordinary chair or a sofa. Keeping all these advantages of a wheel chair for a disabled person, it is very important that before purchasing the chair, all the needs of the patient are considered in detail. The patient should get the best benefit out of it. Well, you need to think practically from the point of view of the patient. As per the needs of the patient the adjustable lift chair or an ordinary wheel chair will be picked. Most of the lift chairs are capable of carrying the weight between 375 lbs to 450 lbs. Take special care about the measurement of the chair. If it is under-sized or over-sized, the very purpose of providing comfort to the patient is destroyed. You can also go for an automatic lift chair that is battery-operated and has provisions for 2 to 3 positions. Some lift chairs have massaging units and hearing apparatus. Last but not the least, buy the lift chair from a company that is in the product line for many years and have reputation of quality. Such chairs carry a manufacturers warranty for 3 to 4 years. Never forget to read the conditions carefully. The conditions need to be such that they are easy to enforce. This is one product, where price is no consideration as you can not sacrifice the comfort and safety of the patient for few dollars. Buy the best! And thanks for your support in a mission to make somebody’s life better! www.about-disability.com/ & Disability Equipment provides detailed information on disability, mental health disability, medical disability, disability equipment and more. Redundancy, Downsizing, or Just Having to Let People Go

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Peter Fisher If you are handling a Redundancy, Downsizing operation or just “having to let people go” you know how difficult and stressful it can be. Everyone is affected in some way whether they are being made redundant, downsized or let go; or even whether they are being kept on (the survivor-guilt syndrome). Maybe you are having to make the decision about who stays and who goes, or perhaps the decision has already been made and you are implementing it, redundancy and downsizing is one of the most challenging issues most people face in their careers. To make it easier you must use an understandable basis for selecting who goes or stays then apply the selection process objectively to everyone in the affected areas. I cannot stress enough the importance of fairness and consistency, both with the legal framework and within data protection issues. The criteria can be weighted in terms of relative importance and so long as it is applied to everyone in the same way, it will be seen as being fair. When you’ve done that, which was the easy bit, you now have to inform people what’s happening to them. Breaking the news of possible redundancy or downsizing requires firmness, empathy and compassion because individuals react in a whole raft of different ways - many of them unexpected, and you can’t predict how any one person will react so you must prepare for as many eventualities as possible. Strong emotions are quite normal; shock, anger, rejection, excitement, relief, guilt and apprehension are all common responses to this situation. So be prepared for the person you’re informing to may feel any of these at some point. Usually the early stages of numbness and denial are followed by anxiety or anger; some self-doubt and negativity may follow. It can almost be likened to a necessary period of grieving for the loss of something so important in their life. Their self-esteem may be affected and this is commonly accompanied by a loss of energy, in which case give them time to adjust and ask questions before re-establishing the rest of the interview. It is important to realise that this is a general pattern and that individuals go through change in unique ways. Individual patterns vary in length, sequence and intensity. Not everyone experiences every stage. Gradually they will come to the acceptance of what has happened. Then you can be ready to help them let go of the past and start to look forward, consider their options or explore new alternatives. This becomes a very active time for job seekers. Over a period of time, your people will come to terms with what has happened and its implications You must also manage yourself throughout the process and acknowledge your own feelings and emotions about what’s happening. You need to accept that you are a person as well as a manager. This means being able to balance the organisation perspective with your own values and beliefs and realise that these may sometimes be different. In my experience as a professional Career Consultant helping and training organizations to deal with redundancy, downsizing or otherwise letting people go, I found that most went out of their way to ensure that the best possible support was available for ALL those involved. Working with KPMG Management Consulting, Sanders & Sidney plc and Penna Consulting plc me and my team supported large and small organisations all over the world, where from just one person up to several thousand people were affected. What they had in common was expert support in all the areas I’ve mentioned plus ongoing personal support for the individuals who were leaving. Unfortunately many companies can no longer afford the fees, which can run into thousands of pounds, to provide this level of personal support. The answer then is to provide detailed information from experts that can be accessed when needed and wherever it is needed. This is what I’ve set out to do with my work on Career Change. By presenting at no charge, all the information that may be needed on my website www.your-career-change.com and creating relevant downloads at a small cost those who are affected by redundancy, downsizing or are being “let go” can get expert advice at very little cost. If organizations also need help with the Selection Criteria or Breaking News issues; or if they need help in understanding how to deal with the reactions, they too can receive expert assistance if they also contact me via the website http://www.your-career-change.com Peter Fisher is Managing Director of Career Consulting Limited and has over 25 years experience in helping people and organizations with Career and Employment issues.
