More Fashion Ideas For Your Wedding

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Victor Epand My first bit of advice is to hire a good coordinator to assist you as you have only 4-5 months to plan. The good part of planning in a short period of time is you need to make decisions NOW! I think a wedding in December would be wonderful. Several reasons being…places are already decorated for the holidays so you don’t have a lot of decorating expense. The colors you’ll want to use will be the rich, jewel tones, such as deep purple, blues, reds, and greens, any of the warm tones. If you decide to go ahead with a wedding for this year, you’ll need to get your dress ordered ASAP. It may limit you just a bit as to which designers you can use since some of the dresses may take 6+ months to get back. Once you’ve decided on your dress then you select your attendants’ dresses. You can go with velvets and other rich fabrics if you’d like. Flowers can be anything from roses to orchids. Select a good florist and then take a picture of your dress with you. They will help you select the flowers and style of bouquet that will work best for you. They will also help you with your reception decor. Poinsettias are beautiful for a December wedding and you can give them to special guests. They work well for altar decor as well as small ones on the reception tables. I hope this helps. I’ve just touched on a small part of the planning you’ll need to do so I’ll reiterate how important it is that you consider hiring a coordinator to assist you. Another idea would be to get a book that could help you with your wedding or go on the internet and see if you could get infor from any of the wedding sites. My guide says that April is the blooming month for Magnolias. So I don’t see you having them. You might ask your local florist about that. I am not aware that they can be imported from someone else that time of year. Your locals would know more about the southern beauty. There are also Gardenias … not an inexpensive flower. It, too has a nice full look. It’s harder than it seems! When I think of western, I think of bandanas, rodeos and lassos. With that said, you could use reds, whites, and browns. You could use bandanas for napkins, set up bails of hay and go all out. I think a western style wedding is a very cute and original idea! While the chocolate brown is generally thought of for fall weddings, I’m sure it will be beautiful in July as well. Colors in the off whites or deep creams, yellows or pinks would be beautiful. To me deep brown calls for gold as an accent as well. To soften the brown, I’d probably go with variations of pinks. There are a number of flowers available in July in different tones that would lend themselves very nicely to decor as well as flowers to carry. For example, I would recommend using cream colored linens as they will add a “warm” feel to the reception. Then use different colors and types of pink flowers or candles. You can go anywhere from carnations (which really are coming back and do make beautiful arrangements etc. especially if on a tight budget) to Calla Lilly. Visit with your florist to see what is in season and build from there. Victor Epand is an expert fashion consultant at http://www.LingerieDress.com/. Batman Begins and the Mighty Fantastic Four-Who’s Your Favorite?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Dave Gieber Well, it looks like Hollywood keeps it continual pot ofrevenue filled with, guess what, comic book heroes. BatmanBegins and The Fantastic Four have been duking it out onHollywood and Vine. An age-old comic book company rivalryis yet renewing the heat this year. I guess all of us comicbook aficionados always wonder who would win the battlebetween such and such superheroes. Well at least in the next few months one way to keep scoreis to watch the revenues generated between the recentlyreleased “Batman Begins” and “Fantastic Four”, which wereboth childhood fascinations of mine. Not only are theresuperhero “what ifs” going on here, but which comic bookcompany will stand to gain the most economicsubstantiation? Batman Begins punches the daily time clockat DC Comics and the Fantastic Four was the brainchild ofStan Lee and crew at Marvel Comics. And don’t tell me there is a small comic book hero market.Batman Begins claimed the number one spot in gross revenueon its opening weekend. Hollywood is definitely increasingthe thickness of its silver lining these days with comicbook hero movies. Batman Begins took in almost $49 millionit’s opening weekend. How many mint condition old comicbooks would you have to sell to make that kind of dough? Are we in the wrong end of the comic book world (ha ha)? The rivalry between Marvel and DC used to be a majordividing line amongst the tight knit group of comic bookcollectors. When comic book interest started to decline inthe 1970s, this issue became largely irrelevant. But now asvideo games, online role-playing games and major motionpicture productions are spreading across the globe, theclassic Marvel-DC conflict is springing back to life. Superman is coming back to life on the big screen as wellas Wonder Woman. Marvel has been riding high off theirmajor successes with the X-men and Spiderman. They are nowdigging deep into their catalog of characters and areworking on screen adaptations of Iron Man, the Submariner,Thor and Silver Surfer, among others. Have we entered a newcomic book age that will have to be defined around majormotion pictures? Maybe it could be call the “GreenbackAge”. Do you have another definition? And as computer literate as so many are these days, Marveland DC will have to start developing more online games andvirtual universes of all their characters that you and Iwill be willing to pay a monthly fee to access through ourcomputers and game consoles. Ka-ching, Ka-ching. DC hasalready announced a deal with Sony Online Entertainment andMarvel is working with Vivendi Universal Games. With themassive successes of the X-Men and Spiderman movies, thishas proven that the Marvel characters still have life andrelevance in today’s pop culture. While DC may be playing a bit of catch up, they are quickto point out that they and Warner Bro. have been moresuccessful on the small screen with TV shows like”Smallville” and several animated cartoon series. Andfurther since their TV and film projects are filmed andaired by the Warner Bro. conglomerate, DC gets to keep moreof the profit than Marvel does on their projects. What do we, the consumer public, get out of all this? Well, for one, we get to see our heroes in a more realistic lightthan ever before. We can grab that popcorn and maybe anextra drink and watch our comic book heroes and characterscome to life in a real world setting, at least for a fewhours, and walk out with a little more joy in our hearts.Go out and get immersed in Batman Begins and hold yourbreath for the Fantastic Four. And besides, this newrevelation in Hollywood may just increase the value of ourold mint condition comics. We can only wait and see. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alice_Erin]Alice Erin Mobile phones being the necessary gadget for communications have dramatically changed in terms of the design and the technology. Almost all handsets available in the market are enriched with advanced functionality that provides more easiness to the user. With consumers changing behaviour and preferences, mobile phone designs are also changing. In addition to advanced features users are now more concerned about the phone design that could reflect their personality in a better and efficient way. Leading mobile companies are now introducing latest phones to cater consumers demand. With this trend, obviously there has been more competitions in the mobile industry. Nokia has also participated in the fray with the introduction of the Sirocco Edition phone, the Nokia 8800 . The phone itself speaks everything including the design that is inspired by the Sahara desert-born wind that reflects the toughness of the phone. A scratch-resistant glass display window again signifies the toughness of the phone. Moreover, the two attractive colours of the phone reflects the hot air mass and the humid nature. With stainless steel casing and the signature thumb rest, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco comes with cutting-edge design and is feature packed with impeccable functionality. Being a slider phone, the Nokia 8800 at 262k colour screen display provides a good interface for capturing pictures and videos. Hot Share Tips

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Thomas Murrell It’s official! Australia is the largest nation of shareholders with direct share ownership more than doubling since 1997 to 40.6 per cent. That figure rises to 54 per cent of all adult Australians when managed funds are taken into account. We’re also trading more shares. The Australian Stock Exchange reports the average number of trades has nearly trebled in the past year to 79,000 a day. Large new floats such as Telstra has fueled the growth of private share ownership. For example, almost one million of the two million people who invested in our largest telecommunications company were first time investors. They haven’t been disappointed with their return on capital and many have branched out into other well-known stock such as Coles-Myer, Qantas, AMP, Commonwealth Bank and others. Smaller and less-well known companies are also floating on the stock exchange in record numbers. In the last half of 1999 more than 104 new companies went public. Share ownership in Australia cuts across all age groups, socio-economic, ethnic and geographical boundaries. The motivation for most investors is to make money and create wealth. Newer investors have been in a rising or “bull” market and seen their so-called “paper profits” soar. Internet and technology based companies have also been floated in record numbers with astonishing results. Many “Mum and Dad” investors are instant experts and looking for that next “dot com” company on which to make their fortune. But what are the keys to successful share investing? Ron Bennetts is Principle Manager WA for stockbrokers J.B. Were and author of “The Australian Stock Market: A Guide for Players, Planners and Procrastinators”. His advice is simple, “invest some time as well as money, look for quality management in quality companies with earnings growth.” Bennetts defines these companies as ones that are strong and likely to increase their earnings per share. He believes the technology area is a growth sector and the bubble may burst but there will be growth. “Look at the companies that have the qualities rather than a marketing plan that has little chance of bearing fruit,” he says. One of the keys too successful investing is diversification and Bennetts says you don’t need more than 12 stocks to diversify your portfolio. He also believes 15 per should be overseas shares and this is often 25 per cent for more aggressive investors. On seeking independent advice versus investing yourself, Bennetts says “the cost of buying and selling is often viewed as a false economy” and suggests first time investors seek professional advice. Ten Tips for First Time Share Investors 1. Set your objectives and work out a budget for how much you want to invest. 2. Avoid speculating. Do some homework about the risks of investing in the stock market and spend time gaining knowledge on how the stock market works. 3. Take a long-term view of your investment. 4. Avoid reacting to short-term pressure and expect some volatility in the market. 5. Identify quality shares in a growth sector. Look for good quality management in industries likely to grow in the future. 6. Diversify your portfolio to spread your risk. This should ideally include about 10 stocks. Less than 10 are not enough diversification and more than 15 is too hard to handle. 7. Compliment your Australian share portfolio with international shares. Exposure overseas can typically be through managed funds. 8. Buy into a managed fund if you only have small amounts of money to invest. A managed fund is an investment where you have a manager that gives you diversification in pooled funds with other investors. To buy direct most advisors believe you need a minimum of $50,000 to do anything meaningful. 9. Monitor your portfolio as closely as possible on the performance of the companies you are investing in. 10. Seek professional advice from a qualified stockbroker or financial planner. Making Powerful Carp and Catfish Ground Baits Spod Mixes and Stick Mixes

Friday, August 24th, 2007

By Tim F. Richardson Ground bait is extremely important to actually turning fish from wary natural creatures into ravenous hunters looking for food to satisfy their specific nutritional cravings for food. It makes catching them SO much easier! Its wise to use as a ground bait base, something which is proven to be a very effective feeding trigger. For example, cayenne peppers, hot peppers, red peppers, and lots of other types of useful peppers are excellent carp feeding triggers. Soaking hemp in spices and peppers is a great edge! I would add these additives before soaking hemp and after soaking it too - the more the better! I combine powdered chillies and hot peppers with curry powders herbs etc; many constituents work in a similar way to chillies as triggers and attractors. I’d add 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of yeast extract and 1 teaspoon of sea salt per kilo of uncooked hemp. It is best to soak it and germinate it first before boiling. It’s even better if you add mixed bird food combination of large and small seeds and nuts to the hemp. Adding to bird seeds and bird food ingredients, nuts like peanuts, crushed and chopped at a 50 percent ratio to hemp. I also add lots of desiccated coconut! There are very many concentrated milks of natural types which really give your ground bait a kick and most are not from milk… Adding various grades and types and sizes of preparatory carp fishing pellets improves its attraction and varied attraction leak-off and digestibility and nutritional attraction too. I do add extra additives like green lip mussel extract, squid extract, spirulina, predigested fish protein, garlic granules and blue or parmesan cheese powder and loads of sea salt and fructose. Mashed tinned fish like herring, mackerel, pilchards, salmon, sardines and tuna really gives the mixture a good kick and Im sure makes the mixture last longer on the lake bed being far less soluble and very oily. I add liquid lecithin to the mix and genuine maple syrup or vanilla powder and a mixture of essential oils too, like peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, wintergreen oil, clove terpenes and pine terpenes. In total this mixture gives off loads of attractive oils of different descriptions and I consider this a major edge and advantage. Who do you know who uses perhaps 10 or more different oils to really pull the fish in from different ranges and levels in the water which counteract effects of different waters temperatures, ph, depth, currents and so on!? I part pre-germinate the seeds and hemp first before adding the crushed nuts to soak. I also add lot of curry powders - LOADS and LOADS of this - it cannot be overdone - it works brilliantly. (Adding neat liquid flavours works well on some waters too.) I add mixed nut oil to the final mix along with a few cans of evaporated milk , more brown sugar and salt and *’instant’ coffee powder* at 3 tablespoons per 10 litre bucket of bait or 5 kg of ground bait. I bind it with base mix powders, flours, oats, and bird foods etc, so I can throw balls of it out. In many situations I usually use VERY large quantities of this. Especially where smaller fish are a problem their activity brings the carp in and on! It works brilliantly for ‘pre-baiting’ a swim e.g. a day in advance of fishing. While fishing I might throw in 20 kilograms or more of ground bait, for example, over a two day and night session, mostly 6 hours before the known feeding periods and then topped up 3 hours before feeding period, then topping up after each fish. When it comes to boilies, there are simple ways to make your boilie ground baits pull fish from greater range. For those of you still on the basic carbohydrate based ones with maize meal, soya flour, semolina etc: In a pound of dry base mix I’d use a tablespoon of curry powders and chilli powders. Id also and add a tablespoon of raw granular molasses, or if your can’t get that, then brown sugar, fructose or a proprietary sweetener now available like Thaumatin B or Talin. When boiling boilie baits addition of 2 tablespoons of honey to the boiling water plus the same of yeast extract and half a tablespoon of sea salt really adds more attraction to the outer skin. Personally Id use baits which are merely scalded or fast steamed or preferably not boiled but air-dried to maximise attraction of boilies. Boilies are best soaked in attractors prior to use as freebies. Even salted water or tinned sweetcorn juice works better than no added liquids at all. A mix of different types colours and sizes and densities of boilies is probably superior these days for use as free baits. I always use paste or dough baits too in large quantities as these can be very highly soluble and release their attraction extremely quickly, breaking down in under 3 hours or less. (They really work!) These mixed with a pellet mixture is excellent. Sweetcorn is a vital part of any mix and can be supplemented by cornflakes, cracked maize, cooked and fermented maize, various breakfast cereals, liquid molasses, corn syrup, honey etc which all add attraction. Don’t forget to add loads of liquid protein free amino acids like Minamino etc to your hook and free baits and especially to paste for use in your PVA bags, along with a healthy dose of betaine. Minamino type products with betaine and salt are extremely important elements of any ground bait whether used beside the hook bait in a stick mix or spod mix etc or simply thrown into the swim by hand. Other great ground bait essentials include liquidized liver, blood powder, fermented shrimp, (like Belachan,) chopped fish mashed canned fish, prawns and fermented prawns, chopped squid and fermented squid, yeast powders, liver powders, etc. Chocolate drink powders, coffee powders and even milk shake powders and all kinds of sugars. There are many other active powders that you can add including asafoetida powder and tomato powder, liquorice root powder etc. I feel that ground bait is your major line of attack as it really benefits the achievement of pre-occupying the fish and getting them competing among themselves. The end result of this ground baiting is that you will probably hook the biggest fish in the area of the water your are fishing providing you regularly keep the bait going in to keep the fish competing! Feng Shui Your Desk for Career Success

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

By Aisling D’Art Have you used feng shui around your desk? It’s a great way to “test drive” feng shui, to see how well it works for you. In feng shui, we work with a 3×3 grid called a bagua (said “bagg-wahh”). The grid is placed over your floorplan, and can look like a tic-tac-toe board, or perhaps the face of a clock, seen from above. With this, we can organize any room, home, or office into areas, each with its own color and design themes. So, let’s pretend you have Superman’s x-ray eyes, and you’re flying over your home or office, looking down into it. And, let’s pretend that you can see the bagua grid that’s overlayed onto your floor plan. Starting clockwise from your left–about the “eight o’clock” area of the clock–the design themes are: Knowledge, Family/Security, Money, Fame, Romance, Creativity, Helpful People and Travel, and finally your Career. At the center of the clock–the middle of the bagua grid–the theme is Health. You can apply these same design principles to your desk, too. In fact, when you’re new to feng shui, this can be a great way to begin. You’ll soon have a better organized work area, and perhaps a little “feng shui magic” will boost your career as well. Sit at your desk, and start at the left side. In feng shui, this is the Knowledge area. It’s an ideal place to store your reference books, such as your dictionary, manuals, and anything else you often reach for when you’re working. If you have a counter or bookcase to the left of your desk, the top may be the perfect place for symbols of Family (family photos) and Security (anything that says “old money” to you). The back left corner of your desk is the Money area. Whether your monitor is there or something else, be sure to keep this corner clean, dust-free, and uncluttered. If there’s space in back of your monitor for photos or posters, this is the perfect place for pictures of what you plan to do (or own) when you have an even better income. At the back center area of your desk, or on the wall directly in front of you, take advantage of this Fame area. Display awards, diplomas, certificates, and anything that tells others about your accomplishments. Add a little red–the best color for this area–to draw attention to your new display. At the right corner of your desk, and on the wall behind it, the focus is Romance. This is where you’ll place photos of your sweetie, or symbols of love and partnerships. If you have flowers or pens at this area of your workspace, remember: Everything in twos… no “onesies”! (Of course, if you’re hoping for a date this weekend, put two fresh flowers in a vase in this area. But, be prepared: This might work even better than you’d expected.) Closer to you on the right, it’s your Creativity area. Be sure to keep symbols of what you do that’s original, as well as tools for creating things at work. Whether this is a stapler or a set of pens and paintbrushes, the emphasis should be on creativity. And, if you’re a fan of Disney or other cartoons, those figures and pictures go in this area. (If you have children, this is the perfect place for pictures of your little darlings, too.) At your immediate and front right, it’s the Helpful People and Travel area. This is where you’ll put your Rolodex or Palm, or whatever you use to store names & phone numbers. This is also a good place to display vacation-related items and pictures. And, the center of your desk is the Health area. If you want a healthy career, your work area should be clean & “happy looking” at the center. With spring on the way, consider a new blotter or other desktop covering in sunny yellow; that’s the best color for the Health area. Finally, your chair represents your Career area. Keep your chair well-oiled (if it’s on wheels or springs) and clean. Polish any chrome on it, and keep it dusted. If you’re on any kind of mat that protects the floor underneath, make sure that your mat looks fresh and new. If it doesn’t, a replacement may be a small expense for the potential benefits. Or, sometimes a little floor polish will renew a plastic floor mat and make it look “like new”. Dry Eye After LASIK Surgery

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Damian Sofsian LASIK is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea, the clear covering of the front of the eye, using an excimer laser. LASIK eye surgery is basically for people who are nearsighted or farsighted and have astigmatism. The goal of LASIK surgery is to change the curvature of the cornea, which is the outermost part of the eye. It allows the person to see without glasses or contacts. After the surgery some patients may develop severe dry eye syndrome, which can be treated with artificial tears and usually takes six months to recover. On completion of LASIK surgery, the regular nerve impulses that direct the lacrimal gland to produce tears are often interrupted. It is considered an expected phase of the healing process. Dry eyes cause gritty and uncomfortable sensations. In order to avoid this condition, a surgeon carefully examines the eyes and recommends lubricating and moisturizing drops to the patients. They are also advised to keep the eye adequately bathed in tears for the eyes to heal properly and also refrain from overusing the drops. Dry eye problems range from less serious to more serious complications. While a patient experiences itching, redness, or pain after the vision correction surgery, there are others who face minor problems that can be solved with topical treatments for the eyes. In order to resolve the serious cases of dry eye problem, a tiny plug is inserted that prevents tears from going to the nose and allows lubrication in the eye. People also rely on flax seed oil caplets and a humidifier in their home, which relieves the dry, scratchy feeling. New treatments for dry eyes include collagen or silicone punctal plugs and punctal cautery. These greatly reduce symptoms, promote healing and improve vision by enhancing the quantity and quality of the eye’s natural tear film. In less serious cases, the patient’s eyes return to their normal or near normal lubrication levels in a short period. Pre-paid SIM Card for Bulgaria

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney Sofia today is a cosmopolitan city, the center for Bulgarian political, business and cultural life, and the center of various international events. When are in Sofia you have the choice of many theaters, operetta, concert halls, cinemas, museums and galleries. The city offers excellent opportunities for international congresses, symposia, meetings, conferences and fairs. You will find accommodations of varied kinds in Sofia, and there are plenty of five, four and three-stars hotels in the proximity of the city center, offering good conditions for business and leisure visits. If you would like tranquility, you may choose to stay in one of the numerous small private hotels located in the suburbs, where you can enjoy excellent services in the comfort of your home. Shopping in Sofia is an experience by itself, with glittering shops offering clothes, small antiques, private art galleries, jewellery, traditional crafts that feasts the eye and many more. You must visit the taverns while you are in Sofia and entertain yourself to the folk music, songs and dances and taste the delicious Bulgarian dishes and choice of drinks. You will find Sofia nights to be quite a thrilling experience, with choice to visit one of those concerts, operas or theaters. Perhaps you would prefer to listen to Jazz and visit the rock clubs and the piano bars. Night Clubs in Sofia are open till the wee hours of the morning. Bulgarian culture is depicted in the magnificent Thracian treasures, the monumental but beautiful work of the Greek and Roman cities, which made the country the cradle of Slav culture. Literatures were being created in Bulgaria for thirteen centuries, along with art and music. The modern Bulgarian culture, which has been born from the power of the country’s tradition, excels in the world, with great Bulgarian poets finding a place in the Sorbonne, a university in Paris, which is the intellectual centre of France. During the Roman time, Plovdiv, the second largest town in Bulgaria, following Sofia, was called “the most beautiful town in the Thracian region”. You can find the evidence of these ages embedded in the amphitheater. Built during the second century, it stands on hillocks and has an arrangement for 3,000 people. During festival times, original scene for classic and modern spectacles and concerts are held here. The magnificent architecture of the old town is still preserved today and forms a major attraction to visitors in Plovdiv. At the end of the big Verna bay in the Bulgarian Black Sea, the city of Verna provides the exquisite sea charm. Here the ancient, medieval, renaissance and modern cultures mingle and exist together through out the city. Verna offers its cultural attractions in rivalry to the great cities like Sofia and Plavdiv, with its historical buildings museums and art galleries. If you prefer peace and tranquility, Verna offers some quiet scenic spots along the coast, where you will find the nature reserve of Kamchiya, the royal palace of Balchik and the hillside monastery of Aladzha. Verna is a holiday destination, for you to unwind all the year round. You would need your mobile phone when you visit Bulgaria. People need to get in touch with you and you would need to call your associates, your friends, locally and abroad, and not to mention your family back home. Mobile communication has become a part and parcel of our modern day life. You need to be in touch with the world and make yourself available to the people who want to get in touch with you. Having your mobile phone with you serves both the purpose. There were times when you had to talk to your associates, friends and others, and you used the telephone in your hotel room. You had called internationally to talk to some of them and to your family back home as well. Your telephone bills at the hotel were unexpectedly high. You had taken your mobile phone on roaming, when you had visited countries abroad. It had proved to be expensive. You had to pay roaming charges on all those calls that you made and also on your incoming calls. A pre-paid SIM card for Bulgaria would save you up to 80% of your call expenses. It is true. When you buy the SIM card, you get a local number and your call charges are the same as what the locals pay. You do not enter into any contract what-so-ever and you do not receive any bills at the end of the month. Whats more, you do not pay for roaming and all your incoming calls are free, no matter where they generate from. When you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Bulgaria, you get a certain amount of talk time credit. As you use up this credit, you can replenish it by buying recharge coupons or vouchers from practically any shop in any of the cities in Bulgaria. These coupons come in different denominations and you can choose the one that you would require. In this way, since you pre-pay your call charges, you can keep a track on your expenses and remain with your budget. A pre-paid SIM card is not only affordable but it also saves you substantially in your communication expenses. You can have more details from www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is a printed circuit board smart card, of the size a little smaller than a postage stamp. It is practically the brain behind the communication that you have using your mobile phone. It has a microprocessor and a memory, which hold unique information about your SIM and the handset, such as, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI), your mobile SIM card identification, your calling plan, etc. As soon as you switch on the phone, the information is transmitted to the nearest network tower of the city that you are in, and after security and other checks, you are logged into the network. You are now ready to make and receive calls. Your SIM card also holds your address book, where you can store the telephone numbers which you call frequently. It also logs your dialled and received calls and the calls that you missed as well. These are logged with the time and date of the respective calls. You would require a GSM mobile phone when you visit Bulgaria. In the event you have a GSM phone of your own, it is very unlikely that it will operate in Bulgaria, owing to the fact that the network in Bulgaria operate on different frequency bands from the ones used in North America, Canada and a few other countries in the Americas. The frequency bands used in this part of the world are 850MHz and 1900MHz, which are incompatible with the ones that Bulgarian networks operate on - 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands. If you happen to be a frequent traveller outside the United States, it will be proper if you can buy an appropriate GSM phone so that you can use it in the countries that you visit. If you travel abroad not so frequently, you may consider renting such a phone which will be compatible with the frequency bands of the countries you usually visit. Please visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_gsm.shtml for more detail. What is GSM? Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is a open structured digital mobile communication technology, first introduced in Europe. It is the second generation of such a technology, which replaced the old analog first generation (1G) system. GSM is used by more than 214 countries, with 80% subscribers out of the total mobile users in the world. GSM has four sets of frequency bands, distributed to countries all over the world and they are, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands. Some of the countries, using GSM frequency bands have common sets of frequencies. The United States, including Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands, Guam, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, and Canada, and a few other countries in the Americas use 850MHz and 1900MHz bands, which are different from the frequency bands used in major part of the world. This sets apart these countries from the rest. In order to use your pre-paid SIM card for Bulgaria you would need a SIM unlocked compatible GSM mobile phone, as otherwise you cannot use the pre-paid SIM card for Bulgaria or any other SIM card for that matter. A SIM locked phone is meant for a particular SIM card which you may have received along with the phone from your service provider. This happens usually when you sign an agreement with your service provider, where a clause in that agreement stipulates that you will be required to use the services of that provider for a specific period of time, which is typically one year. In return you receive a mobile phone of your choice at no cost to you and a SIM card. The mobile that you have received is in SIM locked condition, which would mean that you will not be able to use that phone with any other SIM card except the one sent along with the phone. After the agreement period is over, your service provider helps you to unlock the phone that you have and only then you can use any SIM card of your choice. This is what is termed as a SIM unlocked GSM mobile phone. Buying a pre-paid SIM card for Bulgaria is the best way that you can economise on your calls and remain within the budget that you have set. It is affordable, and can provide you with the best services, including free incoming calls. Since you have a local number, you pay for your calls as the locals do. You do not need to enter into any contract and you do not receive any bills at the end of the month. Translation and Your International E-Commerce Strategy

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

By Ivan Vandermerwe Most businesses realize that they are simply a click away from any corner of the globe. Well, actually two if you include the Yahoo! search a potential customer does to access your shopping cart. What most businesses, unfortunately, do not realize though, is that their shopping cart is struggling to make it to the checkout counter. Bill Dunlap, managing director of Global Reach, Inc. notes that “for every $2 million a site is doing in domestic sales, they’re leaving another $1 million on the table in international sales if they’re not making themselves easily available.” To paraphrase the above, let me draw on a quote from Willy Brandt. The former West German chancellor is reported to have once said: “If I’m selling to you, I speak your language. If I’m buying, dann muessen Sie Deutsch sprechen (then you must speak German).” In economics this is referred to as opportunity cost -the cost of something in terms of an opportunity foregone. The opportunity cost of not speaking “German” is a whopping 50%! This simple truth is supported by statistics. Donald A. DePalma reported in a study conducted for Forrester Research that “Visitors linger twice as long as they do at English-only URLs; business buyers are three times more likely to buy if addressed in their own language; and customer service costs drop when instructions are displayed in the users language.” (Donald A. DePalma, Strategies for Global Sites, 1998). Another Forrester Research report, quoted in an article titled “Reasons for Success in International E-Commerce” (webpronews.com) provides statistics that indicate “over 55% of the online world accesses the Internet from countries where English is not the native language.” The message is loud and clear: Do not assume that there is no reason to translate your marketing materials or that English is used in other countries! To be sure, English is the lingua franca of the world, and many people do have the ability to read English. But, faced with a choice, would you pull out your wallet for a company that caters to your needs in your non-native language, or your native language? If translation is not part of your international e-commerce strategy, then you may be leaving money on the table! And, if you see the truth in this message, you have a couple of options available: you can develop an in-house translation capability, or you can commission a professional translation service to translate your marketing materials. Developing an in-house translation capability is prohibitively expensive, not to mention that it is a long term effort. An appropriate analogy to illustrate this point is that of an IT department. Buying translation, however, can be overwhelming with all the technical jargon, and frustrating with all the endless marketing hype and “mission statements” that are thrown at you. Fact is, the basics of purchasing translation are easy. Read on. Your starting point should be the clarification of your translation project requirements. Consider:Whether your marketing materials are for internal consumption (including partners) or external consumption? Whether cost is more important or quality is more important? What is the time frame for your project? What are your ongoing (long-term) professional translation service needs?By clarifying project requirements, you are establishing the framework to answer the 2 most important questions that will determine the success of your translation project. Namely, what is the right type of translation, and what is the right professional translation service for your translation project? There are two types of translation: Machine translation (MT) Human translationIn machine translation, a human translator supports the machine. In other words, a computer program translates the source text (i.e. the “from” language), with the resultant target text (i.e. the “to” language) then being edited by a qualified human translator, if it is edited at all. Machine translation (MT) is employed for “gisting” or, to get the general meaning (gist) of a document which can be useful when marketing material is only for internal consumption. Is machine translation right for your marketing materials? “Free online translations, is, well…free-the cost is right, but can you live with the quality?” is a short, informative works on machine translation (MT). Read it before continuing. Consider this recent headline from the Yahoo! Odd News section (2005-07-05)-”The Wurst museum in the world?” You guessed it-it is not a bad museum but one dedicated to…German sausages! If your marketing materials are rich and descriptive, and for external consumption, then machine translation (MT) is not an option. Commission a professional translation service, and put human translators to work on your marketing materials. Selecting the right professional translation service can be just as frustrating as selecting the right type of translation for your project. Do you go with a professional translation service provided by a translation company, a translation agency or a free-lance translator? Review the requirements of your translation project. Now ask yourself “What is the right professional translation service?” “Free Online Translations Guide-Professional Translation Service” provides a check list that is helpful in determining what translation service should be entrusted with your marketing materials. While the list is not exhaustive, it will guarantee that you get the most value for your investment in translation in terms of cost and quality. Establishing a criteria list provided the basis for determining what the right type of translation, and what the right professional translation service, is for your translation project. Now, before you hit the search engines, guarantee the success of your translation project by taking a few more minutes to truly prepare (peace of mind; priceless!). Read “Buying Online Translations Tips and Techniques.” And that is it-it is that simple! Translating marketing materials will ensure that your international e-commerce strategy speaks “German,” will ensure that your shopping cart makes it to the checkout counter, and will ensure that no money is left on the table. Natural Louse Remedy: Get Rid of Head Lice Once and for All

Friday, August 17th, 2007

By Mike Jerry If you’re wary of putting pesticides in your child’s hair to get rid of head lice (something you should be wary of, if you are not), then you should consider a natural louse remedy. Natural remedies for louse are a very effective way of eliminating your child’s louse. They work by using a holistic approach; that is to say that they use holistic medicine to determine the entire scope of the problem prior to treatment. This makes holistic healing remedies for lice the most effective way to naturally eliminate lice. Here are the ways in which nature can be used as a tool to eliminate your child’s lice. Look in your Pantry to Heal Lice One of the most innovative, yet practical ways of eliminating lice was just recently discovered. By using a fine tooth comb, you can comb out all of the eggs laid by mature lice, to prevent more lice from infesting your child’s head. Unfortunately, this does not take care of the mature lice. After the combing process, saturate your child’s hair in a combination of olive oil and essential oils. Afterward, put a shower cap on your child’s head for two hours. The result will be that the adult lice, covered in oil, will suffocate and die. Finally, wash your child’s hair two-three times after the oil saturation; that’s how many times it will take to completely clean your child’s hair of the oils. Advantages to Natural Healing A natural healer is a much more safe approach to eliminating your child’s lice than chemical products, such as lindane (the traditional head lice cure). In fact, some research has found lindane to be a dangerous carcinogen, making it an even more unattractive head lice healer. As a parent, you should have the right to be able to use remedies and medicine to help your child without the risk of causing your child to have problems such as cancer. Why take a chance with a chemical agent that contains potentially dangerous compounds to cure your child’s lice. It only makes sense for a person to use remedies and natural medicine that will not only cure the problems your child is facing, but also promote a healthier lifestyle. Natural Hair Care Products When it comes to natural healing, you should always trust the professionals. Certainly the above mentioned oil treatment can get the job done, but unfortunately, the entire process is a failure if you miss even one egg. To get the results you need, you should consider purchasing a professional natural healing remedy. This will ensure that, not only is your child being treated without dangerous chemicals, but also the treatment will be effective and you will get what you paid for. This is the safest way to get rid of your child’s lice without the risk of him or her being exposed to potentially dangerous carcinogens. Remember, you and you alone are responsible for your child’s health; make sure you do what you can to keep your child as healthy as possible. Natural healing remedies are what more and more people are turning to instead of synthetic chemical treatments. Don’t know what natural remedies are available for your ailment?
