Ener-Chi Art - A New and Ancient Form of Healing

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Andres Moritz Ener-Chi Art is based on one of the most ancient systems of healing and rejuvenation. A primary function of this art is to restore a balanced flow of life force energy, or “Chi”, throughout the body. Ener-Chi Art consists of inspired artwork that is imbued with light-encoded energies. It involves a series of paintings, each of which is “activated” with specific light rays. There is a painting for each organ and system of the body. For example, if one looks at the painting that corresponds to the heart — even for only about a minute — very profound changes occur in the life energy field corresponding to that organ. The flow of Chi becomes fully restored, and any thought forms or emotional imbalances that have been locked in the cellular structure of that organ are systematically transmuted and released. A second series of paintings is designed to heal the Earth and her environment. There are six paintings in this category, each one related to a specific planetary issue. For example, one is meant to heal and awaken energies in the mountain and rock structures of the planet; another one has a similar effect on the rivers, lakes and seas. How It Works Nurturing the Body, Mind, and Spirit If healing is to be complete, lasting and purposeful it must occur simultaneously on all levels of body, mind, and spirit. Foremost, it must take place at the very causal stages of imbalance where the seeds of dissonance first begin to sprout and later manifest themselves as discomfort, emotional distress, or disease. It is no longer sufficient to keep applying remedies that merely pacify the symptoms of dissatisfaction, emotional upset and physical illness. Our collective obsession with only fixing symptoms or solving problems, without regard to what is causing them, has led to enormous difficulties in almost every area of living. Yet, at the same time, we are at the threshold of a global transformation, where the original causes of any kind of malady that may be affecting an individual, or a society, are undeniably pushed to the surface, demanding our urgent attention. But this does not need to involve a struggle. Most of us have already gone through various difficulties in life, and worked through a lot of karmic issues. Although we may not always recognize this, we have reached a point where we only deserve the very best in life. To be able to move forward and release the limitations we still feel are holding us back, we now have an opportunity to use one of the wonderful gifts that has recently been given from the spiritual realms. We have been blessed with a new system of enhancing health and well-being — a new way to nurture our body, mind and soul. We have called it Ener-Chi Art. What Is Ener-Chi Art? Ener-Chi Art consists of inspired artwork that has been imbued with light-encoded energies. It involves a series of 23 paintings related to the body, and 6 paintings related to the environment, each of which is “activated” with specific light rays. There is a painting for each part of the body, including every organ and system. If you look, for example, at the painting that corresponds to the heart for about half of a minute, very profound changes begin to occur in that organ. The flow of Chi (vital energy or life force) becomes fully restored and any negative thought form, emotional imbalance, or karmic residue that may have lodged there, and possibly caused physical abnormalities, is systematically transmuted. How Does It Work and What Does It Do?. Each part of the body, including each one of its trillions of cells, has its own auric field. The aura of the body, which is comprised of the numerous auras of its individual parts, goes beyond physical parameters, yet it influences physical life more than anything else. Our aura also affects the atmosphere of the Earth with specific encodements, both positive and negative. Thus, negative thoughts and beliefs, emotional trauma, and other experiential episodes get caught up in the ionosphere of the Earth, possibly triggering major global disturbances that affect the population, wildlife, and climate of the planet as a whole. The effect of Ener-Chi Art spirals out from our “light body” to the universe. It cleanses the aura as well as the physical and mental bodies, and balances the Chi force throughout the body. Similar to the process of osmosis, it transports energy in and out of the body without any disruption. This effect occurs instantly and can be verified through a simple muscle testing procedure applied both before and after viewing the Ener-Chi Art pictures. It can also be made visible to the eye by taking auric photographs of the body. Additionally, Ener-Chi Art has a uniquely beneficial effect on the genetic blueprint of the body — the DNA. Research has shown that only a fraction of our DNA is currently active. Ener-Chi Art is designed to activate the codes within the DNA structure that are linked with total immunity to disease and full use of the body’s enormous, but so far untapped, potential. Ener-Chi Art is so unique because it addresses the original causes of all other possible causes that are responsible for the physical, mental and emotional problems prevalent in our lives today, including those that are of karmic origin. It assists in raising the body’s frequencies and loosening its density, so that one will be able to live and function in higher dimensions than is currently possible. Direct access to these realms will remove fear from life and replace it with the powerful love energies that are capable of accomplishing almost anything without effort or struggle. The Importance of Chi-Balancing Ener-Chi Art has been given to us at a time when humankind is dividing itself into two major groups: one that is ready to move out of the prison of polarity where good and bad, right and wrong, love and fear, etc., are opposites, controlling individual and collective life; and the other that continues to rely on problems and negativity as the principal tool to learn life’s lessons. Current fundamental personal and planetary changes literally force us to make a choice. Ener-Chi Art has been brought into existence to assist us in this process, making the transition smooth, easy and enjoyable. As we became increasingly aware of the profound nature of this artwork, we were given further information about the implications that would result from spreading Ener-Chi Art to the general population. As more and more people begin to clean up their auric fields and energy circuits, and go through profound healing events, the Earth’s own energy field also begins to heal and permits light energies of higher frequencies to penetrate the myriad life forms on the planet. This gradually loosens up the density of matter of all living and non-living things, and allows us to increasingly rely on mere thought energy to accomplish our life’s goals and purpose. This also removes fears, struggles, and strife that most of us have become so accustomed to. Most ancient systems of health and healing are based on the belief that the balanced flow of Chi is the key determinant for a healthy body and mind. Negative thoughts, poor diet and nutrition, accumulation of toxins in the body, karmic influences, stress and a polluted environment, among other factors, can upset the balanced flow of Chi through the subtle energy ducts (meridians) and their tiny sub-pathways in the body. Whenever a group of cells, an organ or system receives either too little or too much Chi, normal bodily functions become disrupted and physical problems begin to manifest themselves, affecting the well-being of both the body and the mind. Children who are born with physical or mental defects suffer a Chi imbalance that is mainly related to karmic influences from former life times, although the condition itself may serve as a means to undo the knots of karma and, at the same time, help to teach others about compassion and unconditional love. Health problems that are acquired later in life may or may not originate from karmic causes, but are equally related to either stagnant or excessive flow of Chi. Since Chi is a universal commodity that exists inside and outside our body, an imbalance anywhere is directly linked with an imbalanced flow of Chi. If there were a method to instantly balance Chi and maintain proper Chi flow through the body, it would imply that even karmic influences and weaknesses on the level of the soul are in the process of being transmuted. Otherwise, the former Chi imbalance would recur within a short period of time — a common experience among people who are helped by a healer, but for a little while only. There is no other known system that is capable of balancing Chi so quickly and long-lasting as Ener-Chi Art; an effect that can be verified by a simple do-it-yourself testing procedure. It’s A Time For Miracles Ener-Chi Art is not to be used as a quick fix method for curing physical ailments. It is meant for a much higher purpose, and is of a more energetic nature, than a physical manifestation. Ener-Chi Art enables the body to go through a profound energy exchange, a symbiotic process of healing the temple within, in concert with healing the temple without. Its true purpose is of a higher frequency nature, laying a pathway to a new level of existence for everyone. At a time when the main emphasis has been on fixing physical problems, it may be useful to understand that any symptom of disease originates in a misconception of who we really are, which has major fear-generating effects on the level of the soul. In this sense, the presence of physical problems literally forces a person to attend to his/her own internal needs and indicates that some aspects of the soul still require healing. The bottom line is that the body simply cannot be healed unless the soul is healed first. Hence, the attempt to cure diseases without attending to their root causes — on the level of the soul — is expressed in the fact that 90 percent of all diseases today are of a chronic nature, which means they defy treatment. The first series of 23 Ener-Chi Art paintings is designed to heal all the wounds of the soul, from both the past and the present. Once soul healing has taken place, the stage has been set for the healing of the related physical imbalances or diseases. Although the present use of Ener-Chi Art is focused on the nurturing of our body, mind and soul, we believe there will be future applications related to the healing, cleansing and restoration of our planetary environment — our rivers, the air we breathe, and our vegetable and mineral kingdoms. It is encouraging to know that in response to the most profound problems the world has ever faced, we are given simple and effective ways to resolve them, once and for all. In this sense, our collective future looks very hopeful and bright. We are fast moving into an era when miracles will be the most common and unquestioned natural phenomena on this planet. New Treatment for Chronic Depression

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Charles Donovan Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Chronic Treatment-Resistant Depression About Vagus Nerve Stimulation VNS is not brain surgery, although it is a treatment that affects the function of the brain. Vagus Nerve Stimulation uses specific stimulation of the vagus nerve to send stimulation to specific parts of the brain that are involved in mood. It is not like Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT), a treatment that involves stimulation of the entire brain and induces convulsions in patients. In fact, patients may not even feel the stimulation from VNS since the vagus nerve does not have the type of nerves that carry pain signals. Nor does VNS interfere with drugs, and patients having Vagus Nerve Stimulation can continue taking their other drugs without worrying about side effects or interactions between drugs. On June 15th, the FDA’s Neurological Advisory Panel recommended APPROVAL of the vagus nerve stimulator as a treatment for chronic depression. What is the Vagus Nerve ? Vagus means “wandering” in Latin, and is the perfect description for the vagus nerve, the longest nerve in the body. It averages almost two feet in length and “wanders” throughout the upper body. The vagus nerve starts in the brain, goes down the neck and into the body where if affects the vocal cords, the acid content of the stomach, the heart, the lungs, and other organs. In the brain it projects to areas believed to be responsible for seizures, mood, appetite, memory and anxiety (note 3). However, the vagus nerve cord does not have many pain nerves, so stimulation of the vagus nerve is not painful, although some patients may feel some sensation when electrical pulses are generated. The History of Vagus Nerve Stimulation Vagus Nerve Stimulation has been used to treat epilepsy patients for years; the first human clinical trial was in 1988,(note 1) and the FDA approved VNS therapy for epilepsy in 1997 (note 2). So far over 22,000 people worldwide have had VNS therapy (note 3), and it has proven to be a safe and effective treatment for epilepsy. These patients have reported minimal side effects, which have tended to decrease over time. The efficacy of the treatment has also been shown to increase with longer treatment time (note 1). When Vagus Nerve Stimulation was first approved for epilepsy, some patients reported an improvement in mood. Researchers decided to design a study specifically to measure changes in a patient’s mood and depression due to stimulation of the vagus nerve. In 1999, scientists began the first open label (no placebo group) study for depression with 60 patients. This first study found that there was indeed an improvement in mood for depressed patients. Based on this study, a more detailed and thorough study was designed to determine if Vagus Nerve Stimulation would be a safe, tolerable and effective treatment for chronic depression. The recently completed one-year, double blind, placebo controlled trial had 235 patients from 21 participating hospitals in the United States, and showed clinically significant improvements due to treatment compared to baseline (note 2). The acute (short-term) phase lasted three months, during which half of the patients received stimulation (treatment group) and half did not (control group). The long-term phase of the study lasted an additional 9 months (for one year total treatment) of stimulation. The HRSD-24 (24 item clinician-rated Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression) improvements observed over the first year were highly significant. The results of this long-term, pivotal study were submitted to FDA in October 2003; the FDA’s decision on the use of Vagus Nerve Stimulation for depression is not anticipated before October 2004 (note 2). Of note, Vagus Nerve Stimulation therapy was approved for use in patients with treatment resistant depression in the European Union in March 2001, and in Canada in April 2001 (note 2) . How Does Vagus Nerve Stimulation Therapy work ? The Pulse Generator (battery) delivers a small amount of electrical current to the vagus nerve intermittently (30 seconds on and five minutes off ) (note 3) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for up to 10 years. The stimulation is delivered automatically, so the patient does not have to do anything. Because there is nothing to remember, compliance is assured. The stimulation is not supposed to be uncomfortable, and some patients do not even feel the stimulation. A nurse at the doctor’s office can adjust the level of stimulation (amount of electricity delivered) if the patient ever feels uncomfortable. In the study currently being reviewed by the FDA, researchers noted several similarities between epileptic and depressed patients (note 4). One of the most important similarities is that Vagus Nerve Stimulation treatment efficacy improves over time. The longer the patient receives stimulation, the better the results. In addition, both populations of patients share the following: Assured adherence to treatment regimen Safety of the procedure Safety of the therapy High continuation rates No drug interactions What is the surgery like? Vagus Nerve Stimulation is NOT brain surgery, even though it is an invasive surgical procedure that changes the function of the brain. The stimulator is a pacemaker-like device that generates electrical pulses (Pulse Generator); it is implanted under the skin in the left chest through a small incision. While this may sound like a serious or dangerous procedure, it is not. The FDA has approved the use, and confirmed the safety of this procedure, and 22,000 patients have received the implant to treat epilepsy. The Vagus Nerve Stimulation surgery involves two small incisions, one in the chest and one at the lowest part of the neck. At no time is the brain physically manipulated by the surgeon. The surgery to implant the NCP System takes 45 minutes to two hours. Local, regional or general anesthesia (putting the patient to sleep) is used during the surgery; the doctor and anesthetist determine which type of anesthesia is best for each patient. Most Vagus Nerve Stimulation patients will have outpatient surgery, (note 3) but some patients may need to stay in the hospital overnight, and in that case they will need a family member or companion to take them home from the hospital. What Happens After the Vagus Nerve Stimulation Surgery? Most Vagus Nerve Stimulation patients go home the same day or the next day. You will feel some minor stiffness/soreness around the area of the implant for a few days. Your doctor may prescribe a minor pain medication such as Tylenol with codeine. A week later your surgeon will probably want to check the scars and a nurse can program/change the settings on the stimulator in the doctor’s office. Is the Vagus Nerve Stimulation Surgery final? The Vagus Nerve Stimulator can be turned off or removed (explanted) at any time if the patient feels that it is not helping, or in the unlikely event that the patient can’t tolerate the stimulation. The device can be completely turned off in less than 30 seconds in the doctor’s office, all it takes is for a nurse to hold a programmable wand over the skin above the Pulse Generator. Explantation (removal) of the Vagus Nerve Stimulation device is also possible, however, less than one half of one percent of the 22,000 patients have elected to have the device removed. As for implantation, the surgery to remove the device is a very simple procedure. Only the Pulse Generator is taken out of the body; attempting to remove the electrode from around the vagus nerve could cause damage, and is not recommended. References 1. 5 Quick Tips for Saving Big Money on Your Wedding with an Outdoor Ceremony

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By Chris Simeral Looking for ways to cut costs on your wedding but still have the event youve always dreamed about? You can save a great deal of money by hosting your ceremony outside in a beautiful park, at the beach, on a hilltop or even in your yard. (Of course, having the ceremony in your backyard is the cheapest but not everyone has a yard big enough to accommodate todays hundred-plus guest lists). Here are five quick tips if youre thinking about an outdoor ceremony that can save you money all around. * Choose an open public forum that does not generally have a great deal of people trying to access it, and remember to get the right permits beforehand. The less demand there is for a space, the cheaper its likely to be (and easier to obtain). * Opting for an ordained minister rather than a priest is often cheaper. Just be sure to check that whoever you choose can legally perform wedding ceremonies in your area. * You can forego the chairs and have the guests standing as long as you host a short ceremony. A nice white or themed linen on the ground for guests to stand on is an elegant touch. * When going with outdoor ceremony, people often opt for a portable arch because it is easy to transport and just as elegant as more permanent structures. * Outdoor ceremonies open the door to many themes that can greatly reduce the cost of your wedding and reception. For example, Hawaiian themes and beach themes can help you save money on formal wear and decorations because people having an outdoor wedding are often casually or island dressed. It makes the ceremony more comfortable for the guests as well, because theyre also able to dress casually. And heres another plus: outdoor ceremonies can immediately switch from ceremony to reception without changing venues, which saves some extra money on travel fees such as limos, and eliminates the need to rent two venues. For example, the Hawaiian theme mentioned above would be a great way to have a luau or pig-roast reception. You might also want to consider a theme that lets you have a picnic for your reception party, or a beach party or bonfire all of which are acceptable alternatives for the couple on a budget. Are All Your Friends Getting Married?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Peter Portero You may have always been the friend who coordinated all of the party nights and was always the last one out of the bar. As you get older however, you probably realize there are fewer and fewer left in your group of singles. Many of your friends may be choosing to settle down and leave the single life for a life of marriage and children. Although you may claim you will get to that point one day, you may wake up and realize you are truly the only one left that is not married, or even engaged for that matter. When you do have this realization, it can be rather shocking. You may feel many things. You may be glad you are not giving in and might want to stay single longer. Likely, you will feel as if you need to play catch up. When you think about it realistically, you need about three to five years to make it happen. After meeting the person of your dreams and dating for two years or so, you might get engaged. Then you will have to wait another few years to plan the wedding. That is after you meet the right person. If you are in your 30s, you might really be starting to panic. You should know that no matter if you are the last person married or not, you should wait until you are sure you ready to tie the knot. Sometimes singles will rush into marriage just because they fear being the only single person left. If you are wise, you will sit back and take it slow. However, you might want to at least start thinking about trying to find Mr. or Mrs. Right. Finding Peace part 3

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Ashley Thomas One of the great destroyers of peace is sin. Sin has consequences on the human soul. A child of God knows the destructive impact that sin has over ones mind, hope and confidence. Many today are so laden with guilt, that they do not know or have yet to experience peace. A person may say but I have sinned big time how could I possibly have peace? While it remains true, that the memories may never be erased and shame fills the heart, it is imperative that one does not allow guilt to lead to ultimate despair. Guilt must not be yielded to the point of hopelessness, for there is no one who can stand under its weight. Instead the child of God should open the door to mercy and quietly wait, that the soul in due time may be restored. If you have been void of peace lately, you need to submit your mind to the truth of Gods word. Scripture says in John 1:17 The law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. May I offer you five suggestions, if this be the condition of your soul today. (1) Be continually engaged in exercising faith, hope, and love. (2) Acknowledge grace, freely rejoice in it and in the presence of God. (3) Thank the Lord for this being a special offer - a free gift from Him. (4) Use your liberty to approach the throne of grace, even when the confidence is absent. (5) Walk carefully. If you have fallen, do not remain there but quickly rise and wash your conscience in the blood of Christ A word of advise as you put these suggestions into operation in your life, do not expect, at first, to receive again the measure of peace and intimacy which you had prior to you losing your peace, but rather, remain humble and acknowledge the crumbs of grace and feed upon it. Pour out your heart before the Lord in order that some hope may in due time arise and quietly follow the leading of the Spirit who turns His hand to the meek, comforts the humble, and who giveth more grace. Revealed - Home Loan Clauses That Will Bite You

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Felicity_Walker]Felicity Walker When you first get your home loan documents, they look pretty scary. Long, generally full of legal gibberish that can send you to sleep in five minutes flat - the last thing you probably want to do is sit and read them! But understanding your mortgage documents is crucial if you don’t want to get yourself into trouble down the track. If you can’t understand them by yourself, get a legal professional, knowledgeable friend or your mortgage broker to help you. Ask lots of questions! Some of the main clauses you need to look for are outlined below. The annoying part is that almost every loan document uses different names for the same thing, but if you understand roughly what you’re looking for, hopefully you can find if any of these are included in your mortgage. Then you can make sure you understand the consequences of those clauses. Balloon payment - this is one you definitely need to check for in your fine print. A balloon payment happens when you either make interest only payments on your loan, or perhaps reduced payments, then at the end of the loan term you pay off a final lump sum. While lower payments may sound great, the reality is that you’re paying a lot less off the principal of your loan. So at the end of the loan term you may still have a substantial loan balance, and you will have to run around and get another mortgage to pay it out. If your circumstances have changed, and you have trouble getting a loan, you may end up losing your home. Note - it’s amazing how many tricky things get hidden in the fine print under “note”. Notes usually contain clarification or extra terms. For example, if you haven’t paid your repayment within a certain number of days of the due date, the lender may have the right to sell your home. It may also give the bank the right to take any of your assets if you do not make your payment. Make sure you’re very clear about ALL of the rights the lender has if you miss a payment. Notice - this section is also very important if you miss a payment or are running late. Some lenders will give you notice that you’ve missed a payment and outline the steps they will take if the payment isn’t made within a certain time period. Others, however, will not give you any notice, and the last thing you want is to get a letter in the mail telling you they’re selling your home. Always be sure to have payments ready to be paid while you’re on holiday, or make arrangements if you’re ill or incapacitated. Send it early if you can, so you don’t have to worry about missing the payment. Check to make sure the lender will give you time to make up the missed payment, or whether it will commence foreclosure proceedings immediately. Acceleration - this clause exists in most loans in some form, and mostly it’s never used. But you need to know if it’s there, and what it means. Basically, this clause gives the lender the right to bring forward the time when your loan is due, and allows them to ask straight away for the full amount remaining of your loan, if you miss a payment. This may mean you suddenly find yourself having to find another home loan, quite often at the worst possible time. After all, if you’re missing loan payments, chances are you’re missing other payments as well. Make sure you understand how much notice the lender has to give you in this situation, if any. Extra fees - I sometimes think lenders have a whole department devoted to coming up with new and ingenious fees to charge borrowers. I’ve copped a few of these in my time, because I didn’t read the fine print thoroughly enough. It still bugs me that I pay $250 a year as a “package review fee” on one loan - and I don’t think the lender has ever reviewed my loan once. This one may seem a bit obvious - but confirm that what you’re signing is what you agreed upon. Check the various fees, interest rates, loan term etc. I’ve had loan documents turn up where the interest rate was a standard rate, and yet I’d negotiated a much better rate because I’d taken out 3 loans at the same time. So mistakes happen - and if you don’t fix them at the document stage, it will be a lot harder to change them later. In the end, reading mortgage documents is probably nobody’s idea of a fun time. However you should never sign any document you don’t understand. Take as long as you need to make sure the documents make sense, and that you understand what happens if you mess up on your payments. Always ask questions - the only silly questions are the ones you don’t ask. And never be afraid to ask for help from a professional. Spending a few hundred dollars getting your legal professional to review the documents and explain them clearly to you may be the best money you spend when buying your home. In the excitement of buying your dream home the fine print in your home loan documents can seem unimportant, but in the long run it may just be the most important part of the process. Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

By Sara Haese Todays brides seem more and more interested in printing their own wedding invitations using home computers to save on costs. Even though youll be pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive some styles of professionally printed invitations really are, theres so much more to the process than just the monetary cost. Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, so be sure your wedding invitations match the beauty of your special day! Your invitations will be giving your guests their first impression of your wedding. The whole wedding invitation process starts with choosing your style. Professional printers are able to provide a great selection of different designs including quality papers, unique colors and trendy sizes. They commonly have a style to fit any theme, budget or colors you have in mind. Professionally printed wedding invitations are typically created by using a process called thermography. This produces the beautiful raised lettering that makes wedding invitations look so elegant. When it comes to choosing your font style and ink color, you will appreciate all the choices a professional printer has to offer. They can also print your return address on your outer envelopes and provide a color lining for your inner envelopes if you so choose. Additional matching items such as response cards, maps, direction cards, reception cards, thank you notes and wedding programs can be easily printed at the same time you order your professionally printed wedding invitations. There is no doubt that your time is at a premium as you are planning your wedding, and printing your own wedding invitations can be a tedious task. Reliving the 1939 New York World’s Fair Through Collectibles

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By Steven Chabotte The 1939 New York World’s fair opened on April 30, 1939. It closed on October 27, 1940. During that time it attracted over 45 million visitors from all over the world and generated approximately $45 million in revenue (which from a financial perspective made it a great failure as over $160 million was invested in the event.) Planning for the 1939 Worlds Fair began in 1935 during the height of the Great Depression. A group of businessmen at this time formed the New York World’s Fair corporation to make an international event so spectacular that by its sery grace would pull the world out of the depression it was in. The committee consisted of Grover Whalen as the president of their committee, Winthrop Aldrich, Mortimer Buckner, Floyd Carlisle, John J. Dunnigan, Harvey Dow Gibson, Fiorello La Guardia, Percy S. Straus, and many other business leaders. Even though the fair was not a financial success, it was an emotional success. Millions of people had a wonderful adventure, one that they would share with their children and grandchildren for generations to come. They shared it with films, photographs, brochures and collectible trinkets that they collected while attending the fair. In addition to all the souvenir stands where one could buy collectibles, they also had a myriad of penny crushers where people could make their own souvenir by putting a penny in the machine, cranking the handle to flatten and imprint the penny with a World Fair Corporation approved design. Along with the 1000’s of souvenirs that covered the spectrum, there were also 1000’s of corporate souvenirs passed out at the exhibits to help brand the corporations in the visitors minds. This included items such as the Heinz pickle pins, the Planters Peanut mascot, pens, bowls, etc. If you could think of it, it was probably there as a souvenir. Even in modern times, interest in the 1939 New York World’s Fair is still very strong and people are still collecting the souvenirs surrounding the event. In fact, a search on eBay for 1939 Worlds Fair in December, 2006 returns over 450 items for sale. And that is just one place selling Worlds Fair memorabilia. If you search the web, you can find hundreds of other sites selling New York World’s fair collectibles. And the prices can be surprisingly affordable. For instance, in the last week on eBay you could have acquired a 1939 New York Worlds Fair Ash Tray for $9.99, a Porcelier 1939 Worlds Fair Sugar ,Lid & Creamer for $63.61 or a 1939 New York World’s Fair George Washington Creamer for just $14.95. While there is a huge interest in the collectibles, the prices remain reasonable so it is a great time for you to build a fascinating collection of 1939 Worlds Fair memorabilia. The items are interesting and make great conversation pieces - and who knows - they may even turn into a solid investments someday. Want to experience the fair. Oil Painting Lessons - Tips on Color Mixing and Theory

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Ralph Serpe When I first began painting some 10 years ago, I recall how intimidating it all seemed. With all of the various colors, mediums, brushes and other tools available, it was enough to make my head spin. While learning about the various brushes and mediums was a bit confusing, the biggest challenge for me was how to accurately depict nature and other real life objects on canvas using color. How do I make a color lighter or darker? What about making realistic shadows or highlights? This article will shed some colorful light on the situation, and with practice, working with color in your oil paintings will become easier and more enjoyable. Thank God for the beautiful Sun, for without it, we would not see color. Everything would appear dark and colorless. Thankfully, the light from the Sun also travels in a straight line. If it didn’t, we wouldn’t have the wonderful variety of light and shadow that makes everything so enjoyable to paint. If you take an apple for instance, and put it outside in the grass in the sunlight, you will notice several different values that the light creates when shining on the apple. You have the main overall tone of the apple, the shadow on the apple, the cast shadow, reflection from nearby objects like the green grass and the sky, and highlights. Our job as painters is to accurately depict these values on canvas using color. There are so many different oil colors on the market today. All of these different colors come from the six colors that make up the spectrum - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet. Colors have four main properties - value, intensity, temperature and hue. The value of a color refers to how light or dark a color is. The intensity of a color refers to how bright or dull it is - also known as a colors saturation or purity. If you used yellow straight from the tube, it would have a higher intensity then if you mixed it with white. The temperature refers to how warm or cool a color is. Colors range in temperature from warm yellows and oranges to cool blues and violets. Finally, the hue is just another word for color. An apple and a cherry are both hues of red. Color mixing is not an exact science. Artists have different formulas and methods for mixing and applying paint, so the following tips are general guidelines and not necessarily rules that must be followed. When mixing colors don’t over mix. Over mixing a color will take the life out of it. To create highlights in your paintings, use white with a touch of the objects complimentary color. There are some exceptions however. When painting highlights on certain objects like brass for instance, which can be depicted on canvas using yellow, making a lighter yellow tinted with white can create a convincing highlight. Cast shadows of objects are complimentary to the color that the shadow is cast upon. For instance, the cast shadow of a red apple on a blue tablecloth would be orange. To get any desired color, try to mix as few colors as possible. Try to keep the theme of your painting either all warm or all cool in temperature. Again, color mixing is not an exact science. If you survey 10 artists and ask them various questions about mixing oil paint, you will likely get many different answers. My advice is to keep painting and practicing until you develop your own formulas and techniques that you are comfortable with. Happy Painting and God Bless!
