Filing a Cerebral Palsy Lawsuit

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

By Todd Going If your child has been affected by a heartbreaking disorder such as cerebral palsy due to a regrettable mistake during labor, it is best that you take legal action as soon as possible. A child should never be forced to suffer due to the incompetence or negligence of another person, especially when such a disaster couldve been avoided. Studies have shown that as many as 27 out of 1,000 infant births are affected by some manner of birth trauma. Most childbirth injuries are debilitating and can require permanent care giving for the duration of the childs life. Cerebral palsy is cased during child birth and can be caused by several factors. Infections during pregnancy, lack of oxygen to the fetus, birth asphyxia, blood disease or premature birth can all lead to the diagnosis of cerebral palsy. Symptoms that can arise include paralysis, seizures, spasticity, dyarthria and an unsteady balance of movement. Because there are time constraints for filing a cerebral palsy lawsuit, it is very important to speak with a qualified lawyer immediately. Restrictive statutes of limitations vary from state to state, and it is uncertain how much time the victim will have in order to first initiate legal action. When your child has cerebral palsy you are forced with a lifetimes worth of medical bills and childcare expenses. Filing a cerebral palsy lawsuit can help you recover these expenses and help your childs future by eliminating some of the emotional anguish and stress they would normally go through. Because most cerebral palsy lawyers work on a contingency basis, you probably wont have to pay any money upfront. The lawyers will only get paid if they win your case, so you can be assured that they will devote all their time and energy in your case, and do everything they can to win. Wedding Music Planning: Top Three Tips To Choose A Music Professional

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By Trung Dang One of the critical step during wedding music planning is to decide the type of music to be played, and who will perform it, a live band or a DJ. Regardless of a live band or a DJ, your goal is to hire the right person(s) for the job to enliven your wedding. On the one hand, you want to have competent and skilled professionals, but on the other hand you don’t want to pay more than you should. Achieving this goal will reduce a lot of involved in the wedding planning. Here then are the top three tips you should keep in mind before hiring a performer for your big day. See them perform in person. Have in writing the name of the performer. Narrow down the chosen ones. It’s ideal if you are able to see the candidates perform live before committing to their services. One of the best way to do this is to watch bands or DJs at your friends or family members’ wedding. If not then remember that most of the live bands or DJs gain their reputation by performing at various weddings. Ask them for the referrals and check with their past clients. Make sure that the signed contract specifies the exact name(s) of those who will be performing at your wedding. Usually this is not a problem with a live band. However sometimes popular DJs are not able to perform at all committed weddings. In such a case, he or she may resell your party to another DJ. Also, a very poular DJ may have other less experienced DJs working for him. Protect yourself by a written contract. Try to narrow the search from 3 to 5 candidates, just for comparision, before making your final decision. Remember, time is critical. You don’t want running around, trying to get the “best” performers in town. You will find that there’re lots of DJs or bands available in the area. If you find a referral from friends or family members then it would be ideal. You can then ask your friends to borrow a copy of their wedding. If not then you have to contact the locals, but the key here is to ask them for a sample tape or a recorded video. Besides the three tips above, always obtain a detailed contract that specifies all of the details agreed between you and the performers. Trung Dang Get the free Less Stress Wedding Planning Guide. How to Make Environmentally Friendly Newborn, New Baby or Baby Gift Baskets

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Helen Hecker Giving an eco-friendly or environmentally friendly newborn baby, new baby or baby gift basket is a great way to help the environment. Whether you buy an eco-friendly gift basket from a gift basket business, make it cheaply yourself at home or add it to an existing line for your gift basket business, the environment will be better off for it. Think recycled paper (100% post-consumer, waste/process, chlorine-free), organic products, vegan products, non-toxic and non-plastic items, natural fibers, reusing and recycling. Just use these simple tips and follow these easy instructions and youll learn how to make a great, unique, custom, personalized baby gift basket. First of all youll need to decide whether youll be using organic or vegan items or products, fair-trade products like soaps, items of clothing like new socks made from recycled cotton, or pre-packaged, homemade or recyclable used items. You probably wont want to use any fragrant food items if youre using any scented products. The fragrances of food and perfume dont combine well in a gift basket. But use your best judgment. Also you may have some other ideas for making your basket more of a personal memory gift. Next decide on what products or items will go into the environmentally friendly newborn baby, new baby or baby gift basket. For an organic, vegan or all natural baby gift basket some products and ideas are: organic baby foods, organic teething chews, all natural or organic baby lotions, organic shampoos, organic baby powders, other organic bath products, organic, vegan and fair-trade soaps, natural fiber sponges, organic cotton towels, terry cloth bath pillows, natural spa pillows, natural hair brushes, socks and other clothing made of organic cotton, CDs of nature sounds or other soothing music, baby toys made with natural fiber and/or safe recycled material, wooden blocks, safe, non-toxic baby games, personal memory gift items, or a no-expiration gift certificate to a store that specializes in environmentally friendly items. Now that youve decided on what products or items to use its time to put your personalized environmentally friendly gift basket together. For gift container ideas: fair-trade baskets, wooden baskets, wooden bowls, fiber baskets, straw baskets, locally made pottery, buckets, potted plant holders, wire baskets, fabric gift bags, homemade gift bags, used baskets and containers from Goodwill Industries and Salvation Army stores or anything recyclable. For gift basket liner ideas: shredded newspaper, shredded comics, organic cotton tea towels, organic cotton dish towels, organic cotton wash cloths, hand towels, or bath towels, colored recyclable napkins, organic cotton cloth napkins, fabric pieces, or an organic cotton receiving blanket. For gift basket filler, if needed, you can use: crumpled or shredded newspaper comics, or use your imagination to come up with a better idea. And for gift basket wrap and tie you can use: recyclable paper, butcher paper, newspaper, newspaper comics, or reusable brown paper bags. Also check with the Salvation Army or Goodwill Industries stores for inexpensive recyclable wrapping paper. Tie with jute or raffia twine for a simple rustic look or leave the gift basket unwrapped. Now the easy instructions for putting your custom, personalized environmentally friendly gift basket together - first start with your custom container. Place the liner inside and add the gift basket filler. Arrange the gift basket products and gift items with the tallest in back. If needed, fill any holes with small baby items or crumpled or shredded recycled paper. Cover with wrap and tie with jute or raffia twine. Dont forget the personalized, recycled or homemade card. If youre using a homemade card include a happy, personal, positive, uplifting, spine-tingling favorite quote or saying. Mom can read it to baby. Thats it! You should have a fine-looking eco-friendly, environmentally friendly newborn baby, new baby or baby gift basket! Pre-paid SIM Card for Ireland

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney Ireland is the third largest island in Europe, with an area of 32,544 square miles, and is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea. It is divided into two sovereign states, the Republic of Ireland, that constitutes one-sixth of the southern, eastern, western and north-western part and the Northern Ireland which forms a part of the United Kingdom. The name Ireland is derived from the name riu, which in modern Irish is ire, with addition of the world ‘land’. As per the census of 2006, the population of the island was about 6 million, with just over 4.2 million in the Republic of Ireland and 1.7 million in Northern Ireland. The climate in Ireland is temperate compared to the countries lying in the same latitude. The country is full of lakes and rivers and the soil is good and fertile at some places. It grows corn, hemp, and flax in plenty and beef and butter are exported, and articles like hides, wool, tallow, wood, salt, honey, and wax are traded. Ireland produces fine linen cloth, which is made to specialised perfection and traded. The history of Ireland is full of legends and myths. The people in Ireland still remember the famous sea-warrior, Fionn Mac Cumhaill, who, as a boy, is said to have gained his wisdom by tasting the ’salmon of knowledge’. His feats in triumphing over the giants and magicians are still remembered by the Irish people. There are more of such myths which still remain in the minds of the people. Many of the patron-saints of various localities are the centers of myths. The history of Ireland portrays these saints as having sacred power to banish the monsters, cure illnesses, and provide food for the people in time of need. There is much famous fairy lore, the stories of which show the presence of traditions prior to Christianity. Ireland is full of castles, stone towers, walls and other fortifications and some of these are well restored, while the others lie in a heap of rubbles as a testament of the past glory. The castles were built in Ireland as a fortification against invaders and were such dwellings which were made for providing security. While it is true that most of these castles were owned by the clan heads, Kings or the honoured English gentry, most of the castles in Ireland were not the grand dwellings of the royalty. When the Vikings came to Ireland, they further enhanced this fortification by putting up stone walls around entire villages or towns, with watch towers at intervals. Castles in Ireland are not as big as one would think. They are small and dark, with few small windows, just to look out for anyone approaching. The rooms are generally small so that a small fire can keep the occupants warm and keep the bitter cold and the damp away. Few have big halls and many have their own chapel. Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, lies along the sweep of Dublin Bay. It is situated between the rocky Howth in the north and the headland of Dalkey to the south. The river Liffey, while flowing into the harbour, divides the city between the northern and southern part, both part inked by several bridges, the main one being the O’Connell Bridge. The major part of Dublin, bordered by fine parklands, lies in the southern part of the River Liffey, with the other part of the city situated on the northern bank. The Grand Canal links the Dublin Bay with Shannon River. The canal was constructed mainly for the purpose of improving the city’s water supply. The canal was completed in 1804 and there-after many small canals were constructed, which branched out to the small towns lying near the Dublin and Shannon harbour. The canal lost its importance as the railroad was developed and about 1960’s the commercial traffic through the canal ended. The largest city after Dublin and Belfast is the city of Cork, which has an international airport. It lies inland at the south coast, linked with the sea by a narrow channel called Passage West leading to the Cork Harbour. The two arms of the river Lee, which are the north and south channels, enclose the central area of Cork, forming an island. The River Lee flows into Cork Harbour which is called Lough Mahon. The river is spanned by several bridges. Cork has many cultural institutions, which include the Cork library, scientific society founded in 1820. The city is the cultural center of southern Ireland. The city is thriving on shipping agricultural produce. The industries in Cork include brewing, foodstuffs, textiles, footwear and chemicals. In the seventh century A.D., St Finbarr found a monastery on a small alluvial island in the River Lee. The Cathedral of St. Finbarr still stands at that spot. In-spite of several Danish raids, the settlement, which grew up all around the monastery, survived and prospered. This settlement was fortified later by the Danes. Henry II, the English King, conquered Ireland which was retaken by the Irish and taken many times by the English. When you visit Ireland, you would need to be in touch with your associates and friends, locally and abroad and with your family back home as well. You will also require to be available to those who want to get in touch with you. You will, no doubt, have your cell phone with you when you visit that country. If you had gone abroad for a visit, at the time when mobile telephony was not available, you would have used the telephone in your hotel room to make the calls that you wanted. You had made local and international calls. The bills were exorbitant and way out of your budget set for making such expenses. When cell phones became available you had taken your cell phone abroad on roaming. You had made calls locally and abroad and paid for incoming calls too. Cell phones on roaming are charged extra for the outgoing and incoming calls and the charges are quite expensive. When you are on cellular roaming, you get the facility to make & receive voice calls, send and receive data, or access other services, when you move out from your own home area, as you do when visiting abroad. This facility is available through the local network of the country that you are in. In providing you with this facility, your home service provider has entered into a business contract with the operator of the country that you are visiting. This agreement allows you to make use of your cell phone in Ireland, for making calls locally and abroad Your home service provider pays the operator of the network that you are using in Ireland for every call that you make and receive. In turn, you are charged for the roaming facility provided and such charges are pretty high. A pre-paid SIM card for Ireland saves you up to 80% of your call charges. When you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Ireland, you get a local number and you pay for your calls as the locals do. All your incoming calls are free, no matter where they generate from and you do not pay for roaming. You do not have to sign any contract with a service provider and you do not get to receive any bill at the end of the month. When you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Ireland, you also get a small talk time credit with your SIM card, so that you may start using your cell phone right away as soon as you reach your destination abroad. You can buy recharge vouchers or coupons from practically any shop in the cities of Ireland, to top up your talk time credit. These coupons are available in various denominations and you can choose the value of the credit that you want. Since you pre-pay for your calls, you are in complete control of the expenses that you incur for the purpose and there is none of that worry of receiving an exorbitant bill amount at the end of the month. For more information on pre-paid SIM card for Ireland, visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is a printed circuit board smart card that renders your cell phone intelligent. It is a little smaller in size than that of a postage stamp and goes in a slot at the back of your cell phone. You will find the slot as you take off the back cover of your cell phone. The SIM card consists of a microprocessor circuitry and memory. It holds your unique information, identifying you, your service plan, the SIM card and your cell phone identity, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) and other security details. When your cell phone is switched on, the information is transmitted to the nearest tower in the city that you are in. This is checked for validity in the operators database and on clearence, your cell phone gets logged into the network. At this time you are ready to use your cell phone. The process is so fast that you do not realise the delay. The SIM card also holds your address book, where you store the names and telephone numbers of the people you frequently call. It also logs your incoming and outgoing calls and the calls which you fail to answer. It logs them according to the date and time of the calls received and made. You will need a GSM cell phone with you when you visit Ireland. The networks in Ireland operate on 900MHz and 1800MHz GSM frequency bands. Therefore, even if you have a GSM cell phone, it is unlikely that it will work in Ireland, unless you have a multi-frequency cell phone with you, having the compatible frequency bands. North America, Canada and some of the countries in the Americas, work on 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM frequency bands, which are not compatible with the ones used in Ireland. If you do not have a multi-frequency bandwidth cell phone with you, it is economical for you to rent one such. If you are a frequent traveller, going out of the United States often, you might consider buying a compatible GSM cell phone, which may be used in the countries of your visit. For more information on buying or renting cell phones, please visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_gsm.shtml Cell phones are available in multi-frequency bands, making it convenient for the people going abroad, visiting number of countries. The Quad-band phone covers all GSM frequencies and can work in any of the GSM region in the world. The Tri-band works on three of the GSM frequency bands and these are, 800MHz, 900MHz and 1800MHz, and would work in most of the GSM countries. There is the Dual-band covering two of the GSM frequency bands, 800MHz and 1900MHz. Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) technology is an open structure second generation (2G), first digital mobile telephony technology, replacing the old analog first generation (1G) system. GSM is used in over 214 countries and has 80% subscription amongst the total mobile users in the world. There are four frequency bands offered by GSM and these are, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, and 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz, which are distributed to the different regions, with some of the regions using common frequency bands. Within these four frequency bands, North America, Canada and some of the countries in Americas use 850MHz and 1900MHz, which are exclusive to this part of the world. GSM offers the advantage of letting you remain in touch with the world from about anywhere in in this planet. Whether you carry your own phone, buy one or rent, you must ensure that the cell phone that you are taking with you is SIM unlocked. If it is SIM locked, you will not be able to use your phone with your pre-paid SIM card for Ireland or any other SIM card. A cell phone is SIM locked for specific purposes. One example is that, when you sign a contract with a service provider, a clause in that contract would stipulate that you will be required to use the services of the service provider for a definite period of time, which may be one year. Further, you will receive a cell phone free of cost to you and it becomes yours once the contract period is over. The cell phone that you receive is SIM locked and would work only with the SIM card that you have received along with the cell phone from your service provider. This is done to ensure that you use only the SIM given by the service provider for the whole contract period. At the end of the contract period, your service provider will help you to SIM unlock your phone, when you are at liberty to use any SIM card of your choice. A pre-paid SIM card for Ireland is affordable and saves you substantially on your call expenses. With this SIM card, you are not charged for any of the incoming calls that you receive and you do not pay for roaming. The charges that you pay for your calls are the same as the locals do. In pre-paying for the air time usages, you are being able to keep a check on the expenses that you are incurring for your calls. Cell phone use overseas. In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. God Hates Religion

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

By Paul Davis ‘Who created religion God or man?’ This was the question of the night. My University students from the campus ministry had been out in downtown Orlando talking to people about God. Suddenly people who had gone out to party on a Friday night were intrigued and gathering around for a spiritual discussion. The fury and frenzy this intelligent and enlightening question caused was fun to behold. Instead of speaking up to give the answer, I preferred to enjoy the responses and listen to the comments. In so doing I was better able to further get a grasp on where most people were spiritually. Even my leaders from the campus ministry didnt quite know what to do with this question. Jesus also asked questions to assess the understanding and discover the spiritual level of people. Knowing that many had differing opinions about Him, Jesus boldly asked: ‘Who do men say that I am?’ (Matthew 16:13) Upon getting feedback from a few honest and forthright folks, Jesus proceeded to ask a more probing and revealing question. ‘Who do you say that I am?’ (v. 15) Unlike most religious leaders and figure heads, Jesus was not the least bit intimidated or upset by honest answers. In fact Jesus preferred candid comments and honest answers. That is how Jesus answered people Himself, even if it meant offending them. Jesus did not hesitate to call Peter (one of His prized disciples) Satan, when Peter sought to persuade Him from fulfilling His goal of dying for the sins of the world. Peter was mindful of earthly things and most likely wanted Jesus to liberate the Jews from Roman rule (see Matthew 16:23; Acts 1:6). Tree of Knowledge or Tree of Life? Another question we must ask ourselves is if faced with the choice of knowledge or life, which one do we want? There were two trees in the garden of Eden the tree of knowledge and the tree of life (Genesis 2:9). The very fact that Adam chose the wrong tree is why our physical lives are limited in years. Why is it we are prone to seek knowledge over experiencing life? Could it be our personal pride and tendency toward self-sufficiency that causes us to run after that which fills the head but leaves the heart empty within? Religiosity has its origins in the tree of knowledge and therein also are its limitations. I do not consider myself to be “religious” as that word conotates and conjures up the image of a bald monk wearing black, a cross around his neck, no smile on his face and legalistic adherence to traditions and rules - something I am not, nor do I do. I shall never forget a Russian Orthodox priest who kept hissing at us in Moscow, Russia while we viewed a cathedral and the beautiful spiritual paintings within it. I was with a group of young adults from America on a mission trip to Russia in 1992. We bumped into this Russian priest, an artifact of religion himself for sure. The moment we began to excitedly express ourselves and happily remark about the various Christian pieces of art, the priest began telling us to hush and be quiet. We could not understand why. It is rather hard to keep Americans (who come from a free country historically) quiet. Shortly after the priest’s first rebuke we were celebrating again. A harsh ‘Shhhhhhhh!’ suddenly reverberated across the cathedral as the priest with a stern look on his face gave us the evil eye. I in my great boldness and disrespect for religion got in the priest’s face and asked him ‘Why? Why do we have to be quiet?’ His reply shocked and alarmed me. ‘Because there are dead people buried in here beneath the church.’ Isn’t that interesting? The priest was more concerned about dead people rather than the living. And that precisely defines the matter of religion. Religion defends the dead before it celebrates the living. Religion can never celebrate the living because it is dead. The liveliness of the living is an indictment against dead religion and further attests to its death and lack of life. Religion would rather hush the happy than awake the dead. The voice of religion says: ‘Shhhhhh!’ The voice of God says: ‘Lift up your voice!’ (Acts 4:24,29-31) ‘Speak on!’ (Acts 4:19-20) ‘Be bold and very courageous.’ (Joshua 1:6) ‘Let the dead bury and care for the dead. You go and preach the gospel.’ (Matthew 8:22) God goes up with a shout (Psalm 47:5). Religion brings you down with a pout. When Jesus returns to the earth, He will descend from heaven with a shout and the archangel’s trumpet (1Thessalonians 4:16). When religion returns it comes with a scowling look of legalism and accusation. I recall a particular priest who presided over the Church of England my family attended during my youth. He was such a perfectionist that when the Christmas ceremony was taking place he was giving several people involved piercing looks as if to say ‘Don’t mess up!’ Because the priest was uptight the people around him also could not relax. Undoubtedly he was legalistic and performance oriented to the bone. Religion always wants you to do more. Nothing is ever enough. ‘Do, do, do!’ That is the battle cry of religion by which it enslaves people. Thankfully Jesus did it all, dying on the cross and saying: ‘It is finished!’ (John 19:30) Religion says ‘Do!’ Jesus says, ‘Done!’ Religion labors to achieve a place of victory. Jesus however already won the victory and bestows it to us to enjoy freely. Religion wants you to work until you bleed. Jesus wants you to look unto Him and believe. Discover the Truth about Comic Book Collection; Nerdy Geeks or Shrewd Investors?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

By Dave Gieber It is unbelievable when one says, yeah, I collect comicbooks, what the general public response might be? Oh no, aslightly off the wall geek. Here is someone who has losttouch with reality. Or someone that is in his or her ownlittle world. I think not. Yes, comic book collectors maysometimes march to the beat of a different drummer, but whosays we all have to be cut from the same mold. Comic booksare big business. Back in the days of my youth (what, several millenniaago?), I loved reading comic books. And so did a lot of myfriends. Whenever we had an extra dime or sometimes aquarter, we could run up to the local small town groceryand spend some very happy times at the comic book rack. We would even go out and find small odds jobs for pocketchange, which was enough then to purchase 2 or 3 goodflights of adventure and fantasy. I can even remembercrawling under our house to retrieve a cat that had themisfortune of dying there. My Dad couldnt stomach thesmell and enticed my friend and I to accomplish the chorefor ample pocket change. We braved the spiders and othercrawly creatures to retrieve and bury the unfortunate cat.Not long after that, we were the proud owners of yet, several more intriguing comic books. Even the local bully(who was really a pretty good guy) would purchase our wornout or unwanted magazines for far more than they wereworth, so we could purchase new ones. I didnt know much about collecting then. I just likedsaving what I enjoyed. I had a large cardboard box that Ikept under my bed, filled with all my little treasures. Ididnt realize that I had the beginnings of what could havebeen something very lucrative. In later years when I headedoff to college, I dragged my large cardboard box with me.At one point in time, I left most of my belongings in thecharge of what I thought were trusted friends. When Ireturned from my forest firefighting adventures, my boxfull of magazines were no where to be found. And needlessto say, were my trusted friends either. Others had seen thevalue in what I had and wanted it for themselves. Oh well, live and learn. That limited collection of comic books andother magazines would have been worth a small fortune today. Are there big bucks in the comic book genre? Just look atwhat Hollywood has been up to for the last few decades. Asfar as I can tell, the really big blockbusters started backin 1978 with the release of Superman, The Movie. And sincethen there has been comic book hero after comic book heroto hit the silver screen. And they all make tons of money. The Hollywood moguls may or may not be into the genre, but they can smell large profits. And these kinds ofprofits arent harvested from a small out of touch withreality niche. It take large numbers of individuals forkingout 5 to 10 dollars a pop, to accumulate the astronomicalprofits that Hollywood is seeing these days. Made up buindividuals who may or may not want to admit their avidinterest in comic book characters. I will stand up and say,I enjoy watching these movies and have even started my owncollection of comic book character DVDs. Who knows, maybesome day my DVDs will become as valuable as comic books.Probably not. Although, not every individuals collection has magazinesworth thousands of dollars, there are a sizable amount ofcollections that can be worth hundreds of thousands or evenmillions of dollars. These are not people that have losttouch with reality. A while back, the actor, Nicholas Cage, put his comic book collection of about 400 magazines up forauction. Word was that he might have realized a value intoseven figures. That aint chicken feed. It is not uncommon for single additions to be worth severalhundred to several thousand dollars. Some comic books canenter the realm of several hundred thousand dollars for onemagazine. Now the owners have to be some pretty richeconomically savvy geeks. Are these the types of smallniche individuals who have lost touch with reality or dontwant to confess they like comic books? So the next timeyou hear someone profess, yeah I collect comic books, youmay want to look inside yourself and say, how do I releasemy hidden passion and start collecting myself? Now that you know this, isnt it about time you start acomic book collection for yourself? It is fairly simple, but there are several things to take into consideration. Toget started on the right step, I am accumulating some ofthe best information on the Net about comic bookcollecting. Come on over and satisfy your curiosity. “The Squeeze Cast” Small Stream Fly Fishing

Monday, November 19th, 2007

By Joe Loughran When heading out for an evenings go at a local small water Trout stream, you might consider the following tips. I suggest you use a Double Taper fly line versus a Weight Forward line. This fills up the spool a little quicker with less weight and is better suited for the many Roll Casts an evenings fly fishing on small streams usually requires. Also, use either an 8# or 12# backing line if you can find it. Not a real big deal but keeping the weight down on small stream outfits is useful. Small stream fly rods do not normally require a very long casting stroke. A key to accurate casting with these short rods (5′ to 7′) is to execute both your back cast and forecast with a very short casting stroke, the shorter the better. Smooth acceleration to an immediate stop, almost like punching a wall, then hold the rod stopped until the cast is almost completely laid out….then drop your elbow (without extending your arm or body) to present the fly. Another tip………to increase speed and accuracy very quickly…..AS YOU ARE EXECUTING YOUR BACK CAST……OPEN YOUR 3 LOWER FINGERS……control the rod with your thumb and fore finger. (keep the back of the rod handle up against the fleshy part of your hand) HOLD THE ROD WITH THESE TWO FINGERS THRU THE BACK CAST. ………Just as you are finishing your fore cast……SHARPLY SQUEEZE…..THE 3 FINGERS TOGETHER AGAINST THE LOWER PART OF THE ROD HANDLE and your thumb against the top of the rod handle……THIS GIVES A FINAL, RAPID ACCELERATION TO THE STOPPINGof the rod…..SPEEDING UP THE LINE AND IMPROVING ACCURACY….TAKES A LITTLE PRACTICE BUT REALLY IMPROVES A CAST IN A TIGHT SITUATION. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you…I call this “The Squeeze Cast”….tricky name I thought……Best Joe @ Castitagain. Natural Weight Loss is the Only Path to Permanent Ftiness

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

By Martin Harshberger We as educated people need to start getting angry at all the junk aimed at us everyday. The average American sees thousands of ads each and every day for everything from diet pills to prescription drugs. Most promise a quick cure for whatever ails us. The weight loss industry alone is estimated to be over $35 Billion dollars annually, so marketing and ads play a vital role in keeping us interested and buying. Now we have come up with RLS, (restless leg syndrome). This will probably be a new “chronic condition” treated by an existing prescription drug, allowing it to continue generating profits longer We need to start using our heads and understand what weight loss is and what it means. Losing weight alone is not the most important thing. We citizens of western countries are too fat. Losing fat and losing weight are two distinctly different things. Also distinctly different is how we lose the weight / fat. A pound of fat equals about 3500 calories. To burn 3500 calories you would need to reduce your daily caloric intake by 500 calories per day for one week, while remaining constant at your current activity level, or you could consume the same number of calories daily and exercise more to burn 500 calories per day. To burn 500 calories through exercise you would need to ride a stationary bike, as an example, for about 1 & hours per day at a rate of about 25 MPH average. Or you could do a combination of decreasing by 250 and burning 250. The claims that you can “lose 30 pounds in 30 days” are weight not fat. To lose 30 pounds of fat in 30 days you would need to burn 105,000 calories in excess of what you eat, which I’m sure we all agree isn’t likely. Claims aimed at fast weight loss are telling you, you’ll lose weight not fat. Fat is harmful to the body not weight per se. Rapid weight loss through severely restricted caloric intake causes the body to react as if it were sick. It is conditioned to say “Oh Oh”; I’m in trouble I’d better conserve energy. I may not get more food for awhile. Fat is stored energy. What the body then conserves is fat. It does exactly what you don’t need or want it to do, it slows your metabolism, burns lean muscle mass for energy and conserves the fat. The rapid weight loss that happens the first 30 days is water. Muscle contains about 3 times as much water as fat. So if you lose a pound of muscle you’re losing 3 pounds of water with it. That’s why diets alone slow down, there’s only so much water to get rid of. You can’t blame the ad agencies, or the diet program companies, people are being sold what they want to buy. They want a quick fix to a problem without sacrifice or change. The truth is once you learn what the body needs and how it works there is no great need for sacrifice. You can eat nearly anything you want, just less of it, and exercise more. We are just so conditioned to instant gratification, that we’re always awaiting the next miracle drug to make us all look like Hollywood celebrities. The $35 billion is just giving us what we demand. Obesity has grown by over 20% in the last decade, in spite of the fact we are spending $35 Billion a year on weight management products. Does that suggest to anyone maybe they aren’t working? Well it did to me so I did two years of research on the subject and was shocked at what I learned. It might do all of us some good to do the same research. The Easiest Weight Loss Program for You

Friday, November 16th, 2007

By Janice Elizabeth Small Although there’s no easy “one size fits all” weight loss program, there is such a thing as a weight loss program which makes it easier for you personally to lose weight than others. This is the program which fits your lifestyle so well that you are happy to adopt it and live with it permanently. 1. Decide which foods to include in your diet. Which healthy foods do you like? Which ones do you tolerate? And which do you hate? Build your meals around those healthy foods which you enjoy. After all there is no point in eating a meal and hating it. The exception? If you hate a whole food group, and your diet would be unhealthy without it. In that case, adapt your diet to include the elements you need in a palatable way. For example, if you hate vegetables serve them in a way that you can’t taste them. Puree them and include them in soups, stews or pasta sauces. If you hate or have an allergy to dairy products, choose other foods to give you alternative rich sources of calcium and protein. 2. Decide which junk foods you’ll dump Which poor food choices can you easily live without? Dump the junk that doesn’t matter to you. Maybe eating some junk foods has just become a habit and you can easily wean yourself away from them. Others are ones you love and would miss a lot so include small amounts in an otherwise balanced healthy diet. In this way you reduce the junk without feeling deprived. 3. Replace the gap left by the junk food you don’t care about with healthy food you do like Best of all replace the junk with healthy food which has a touch of luxury. For example, you dump peanuts and potato snacks and replace them with blinis, low fat cream cheese and caviar or dump donuts for crispbread and smoked salmon or lean prime roast beef. 4. Upgrade the junk food you love Replace your junk food choices with something even better. For example, instead of treating yourself to your usual cheap chocolate bar, feel like a million dollars by buying yourself a couple of exquisite handmade chocolates. This means you can really indulge yourself now and again without piling on the pounds. 5. Create weekly meal plans around the foods you have decided to include in your diet Pre-set meal plans in diet books and weight loss programs make life easy but they’re unlikely to give you the most satisfaction and enjoyment per calorie. They are not based on the foods you particularly like and many have an aim of allocating foods in particular proportions of fat, carbs and proteins, which makes for some weird meals and combinations. Forget being too rigid if you want to find a healthy balance you can live with for life. Also give those meal replacement bars and shakes a wide berth. Who wants to live on those for a week never mind a life time? Instead, choose a good variety of different healthy foods each day and also vary your choices throughout the week. If planning your own healthy meals sounds like too much hard work, use a ready-made meal plan but substitute some of the things you like least with similar foods you like better. 6. Don’t get too hungry Living with hunger is hard and totally unnecessary to lose weight. The easiest weight loss program matches your individual hunger patterns. Such a ready-made program may not exist, so why not devise your own? Eat enough at each main meal to satisfy your hunger but not feel stuffed. And eat often enough so that you’re not ravenous when it’s time for lunch or dinner. Most people need a small snack mid-morning and in the afternoon. As a guideline eat no more than about the size of your two clenched fists for any main meal and, if you feel you need more, fill up on salad or vegetables. Your aim should be to feel hungry when it’s time for a meal but not all the time. 7. Add some easy exercise If exercise doesn’t fit into your life easily you won’t do it (at least, not for long). Choose an activity which feels like fun, even if it means trying a few things first to see what you like. Or build your fitness by simply doing more as you go about your day - moving more at work, being more active around the house and garden, choosing to walk instead of taking the car on short journeys etc. Build your level of activity gradually so that you ease into fitness - you don’t have to tie yourself to the gym every night - but if you love that, that’s ok too! 8. Think about what motivates you As with the other elements of a weight loss program we are all individuals when it comes to motivation. Why do you want to lose weight? What reason is strong enough to make you stick to your plan? You will have your own combination of reasons and they are the key to your success. Remind yourself daily why you are doing this so that you feel more motivated to change your habits. 9. Celebrate in style Choose how you will celebrate your success and make it something that drives you to meet your goal. Plan your celebration to reward yourself with whatever means most to you personally and not with what you or others think you should want. 10.It’s all about you We are all different and so there’s no one weight loss plan or program that will work best for everyone. Choose your own elements like a pick and mix selection. Go at your own pace and you’ll finally find just the right combination that works for you - the easiest possible weight loss program.
