How to Start a Gas RC Car - Ignite That Nitro

By Randy Rater Owning and operating a nitro powered radio controlled car or truck adds an element of excitement and realism to this hobby above and beyond that provided by the electric RC counterparts. Unfortunately, it also poses some unique challenges. The one question that is posed to me the most often is ‘how do I start a gas powered RC car’? Well, first of all, you need to assemble a few necessary items. These can be obtained either individually, or purchased as a package with or without your radio controlled car or truck. You will need the correct nitro fuel, a glow igniter, batteries for your radio transmitter and receiver, and a small screwdriver. Have your glow igniter fully charged and ready to use. Make sure you have installed batteries in your controller (transmitter) and the car’s on board receiver. Verify that they are functioning properly by operating the steering, throttle and brake. After all, you want to be able to control your RC car once it is running! Fill the car’s fuel tank with the proper nitro fuel. Be careful fuel is extremely flammable and toxic! Check with your engine’s manufacturer or your local hobby shop to make sure you are using the recommended nitro mix. 20% is the most popular. OK? Now we are ready to fire her up. Clip the glow igniter to the glow plug located in the top of the engine cylinder head. Rotate the engine by whatever means your car or truck uses such as manual pull recoil, on board electric starter, drill operated shaft starter, or portable starter box. You may have to ‘choke’ the engine to initially supply fuel to the carburetor. You can easily do this by placing a finger over the exhaust outlet. Watch for fuel movement through the fuel hose so you know when fuel has reached the carburetor. You don’t want to flood the engine! Once the engine has started and is running smoothly, you can remove the glow igniter. Drive easy for a few minutes until the engine warms up a little. After warm up you may find it necessary to adjust the carburetor high speed needle, low speed needle, or idle speed set screw to maximize performance. This might all seem intimidating to you, but it really isn’t hard to learn with a little practice and patience. Thats why food labels also tell you how many calories the food contains, so you can limit your calorie intake and make sure not to consume too many in a day. The amount of calories you will need varies from person to person, depending on your gender, age, build, what kind of work you do, and all sorts of other factors. As a rough guide, though, women need about 2,000 calories per day to function properly, while men need around 2,500. A good way to organise this is to have 500 calories for breakfast, 500 for lunch and 1,000 for dinner as men and women tend to eat together in the evenings, a man may find it easiest to eat a large lunch in order to get his extra 500 calories. In practice, you will probably want to keep each meal a hundred calories or so under these amounts, to allow for a modest amount of snacking. The world is full of fad diets, but this is one that works: combined with exercise, there is simply no way for calorie-counting to fail, provided you have the willpower to stick with it. The reason that there are so many ways out there to lose weight fast is that many people, unfortunately, find it hard to make themselves count calories. This question is so basic, so reasonable, so simple a complete no-brainer for anyone in business, right? Apparently not, because very few business owners and entrepreneurs know how to answer it! And although they dont come right out and say, You should do business with us, because were pretty much the same as our competitors but were good at it, but it amounts to pretty much the same thing. Not much differentiation there. Customers see parity everywhere. They are bombarded daily with advertisements for just about everything and have learned to tune out most of the noise. As consumer loyalty becomes a thing of the past companies are scrambling to invent new ways of acquiring that ever-elusive buyer, exacerbated by the vast number of new choices available on the internet and the relative ease of purchase. In this environment it is even more important for businesses to stand out from the herd to avoid being lumped into the commodity basket. What is a commodity? Simply put: Goods that are perceived as identical and therefore must compete on price. Companies are forced into this undesirable place primarily because their inside reality does not match outside perception. In other words, consumers may look at your business; your competitors businesses; and/or some completely unrelated business and view them as the same thing. Therefore, they are left with choosing one company over the other on price or convenience. And while some companies can operate in this arena for a while, it ultimately moves them closer to extinction and means theyll never be able to command a healthy price for their products or services. And businesses will continue to compete in this way until they do something to alter their prospects perceptions! Remember, perception is reality, even if its not true! Surpassing the Commodity Ambush The greatest challenge for any business today is learning how to create and articulate their unique benefits, thus surpassing the commodity trap. However, this can be accomplished relatively easy using a step-by step approach. The first step is recognizing and acknowledging that the marketplace sees you as a commodity. Dont fight it its a competitively powerful perspective to admit youre pretty much the same as your competitors; to be realistic and see your company through the eyes of your customers and prospective customers. Next, you must identify the specifics area where your inside reality doesnt match outside perceptions by asking current, prospective and former customers to help you identify gaps. These can be skewed in several different ways. For instance, lets assume that youre the most knowledgeable, educated and competent financial advisor in your area, having earned and saved your clients much more than your competitors. At a networking event you give your business card to a qualified prospect in need of your services and you schedule an initial meeting in your office. However, when the prospect arrives the waiting room is bland and the sofa upholstery is threadbare; the rest rooms are in desperate need of cleaning; your receptionist is curt; your office is a mess and you cant find the forms you need. Then you spend the next hour reiterating the professional qualities you posses careful attention to details, reliable service, thoroughly researched advice, etc. Youre convinced that you have the know-how and abilities to provide the very best financial advice to him or her, but they choose another company. Why? Because there was a huge gap between what you said and what they experienced. Your words said, quality and professionalism and your environment and staff said exactly the opposite! As the saying goes, If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, its probably a duck. What does a dirty bathroom have to do with sound financial advice? In this case, everything. So you can either argue the point (i.e. one has nothing to do with the other) all the way to the poor house or do whatever is necessary to create an office environment that reflects your level of professionalism. Alternatively, your customers may continue to choose you over a competitor because you consistently deliver more product or service value that youre not even aware of! And again, the only way to find this out for certain is to ask your repeat customers! For example, women may choose one comparable hair salon over the other because they are more careful schedulers and they never have a long wait. Presto! Instant differentiation handed to you on a silver platter! The third, and possibly the worst, perception gap brings us back to the commodity nowhere land. In order to transcend this place youll need to force an apples and oranges comparison between your company and the competition. You must design, execute and communicate such significant differences between you, that it customers would be foolish to take their business anywhere else, regardless of price. Caution! Do not confuse think that you can accomplish differentiation by drumming up false, but clever, promises. You should never underestimate consumer, they are not stupid. One of the quickest ways to destroy your business is to communicate value you cannot deliver. For instance, I recently went to a local retailer that advertised their open hours as Monday through Friday for 8 am-5pm. When I arrived at 2pm the door was locked, the lights were out no one home. Annoyed, I grabbed my cell phone and dialed the telephone posted on their sign.Instead of reaching a real, live human being my call was answered by a machine, with the greeting, Hello and thank you for calling company X where customer service is our # 1 priority. (If customer service is there #1 priority, Id hate to experience numbers 2 and 3!) And the bottom line is that it does not matter whether they really believe and/or deliver exceptional customer service most of the time because my total, albeit brief, experience with this business was unsatisfactory. The other 135lbs is your lean body mass which is made from bone, muscle, organ tissue, blood and everything else in the human body. What is important to remember is that a certain amount of fat is essential for the body to function correctly. It helps to regulate the bodies temperature, cushions and insulates our organs and tissues as well as being the main form of the body’s energy storage. The body fat percentage is an estimate of a fraction of the total body mass that is adipose (insulating) tissue as opposed to lean body mass (or may be referred to as fat free mass). This is also a more accurate way to measure a person’s excess body weight rather than body mass index (BMI) as it differentiates between the weight of muscle mass and that of fat mass. But even those who are skillful enough will find factors which will contribute to a significant margin of error where there measurements are concerned. But what does total body fat percentage consist of? It consists of essential fat and storage fat. This percentage of fat is greater in women than it is in men because of the demands putting on their bodies due to child bearing and other hormonal functions. The essential fat in a man should be between 2-5% whilst in a woman it should be between 10-13%. Where as storage fat is an accumulation of fat in the adipose tissue which helps to protect the internal organs in a person’s chest and abdomen. Again women will have slightly more of this then men. In order to calculate a person’s body fat percentage the following measurements should be taken. It is important that you try to be as accurate as possible usually allow a margin of error of between 0.25″(0.5cm). 1. Abdomen - This is for men only - Measure around the abdomen horizontally that is level with the navel (belly button). 2. Waist - This measurement only for the women - Again horizontally at the level of minimal abdominal width. 3. Hips - Again this measurement only to be used on women - Measure around the largest horizontal circumference of the hips. 4. Neck - Both men and women - Inferior to the larynx with the tape measure sloping slightly downwards towards the front. 5. Height - Again both men and women to be measured.
