The phrase, Las Vegas wedding planning is somewhat of a misnomer. The reason being is that someone can show up in Las Vegas and have a halfway decent wedding with no plans at all. Las Vegas also has some of the loosest restrictions regarding licenses. If you are planning a wedding in Las Vegas, you will need a license from the state of Nevada. You shouldnt worry about this fact to much. People have had more difficulty opening a paper sack. AS long as you have proof of identification and the all important 55 dollar license fee. The state of Nevada will happily grant you al license to get married. The next stage of Las Vegas wedding planning is to find a location. This is where the true beauty of Las Vegas shines because quite literally anything can happen. There are chapels offering the grandest of ceremonies, fir for royalty all the way down to the drive up window wedding for 20 bucks. For an extra 5 dollars you can get fries and a drink with your vows. What ever you desire. Las Vegas is sure to have t for your wedding. Some of the chapels will provide the music, flowers and some even clothes so you literally need to do nothing but show up. Some chapels even loan out the rings. For someone who wants as little hassle as possible in planning a wedding, Las Vegas could provide the answer. For relatively little money you can get married virtually hassle free and enjoy your honeymoon in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Go to Las Vegas and get hitched without a hitch. Depression: Vitamin Supplements May Help to Stop Depression

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

By Hector Milla New research in depression causes found out that supplements could help to stop this disease in depressed people that might have problems metabolizing the B vitamin folate. According to Dr. Ingvar Bjelland of the University of Bergen, vitamins are important, not only for the physical health, but for the mental health as well. The researcher explains that folate might play an important role in depression, as the body may need the B vitamin in order to build substances in the brain because a lack of these substances may cause different mental disorders, including depression. Depression arises more commonly in people who has high levels of the amino acid homocysteine in their blood and in those who have a form of a gene that encodes a protein involved in processing folate, under results of an investigation performed in Norway. It is known that folic acid (the form of folate found in supplements) aid in breaking down homocysteine, which is a normal byproduct of metabolism. Therefore, Dr. Bjelland explains that the lack of folate and/or a disturbed folate metabolism may partially cause depression in some people. The fact that folic acid supplements may encourage the effects of antidepressants, as suggested previous research, is supported by Bjelland. Results published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, may support the suggestion that folate may prevent depression, acording to the expert. Researchers findings state that people who has relatively high levels of homocysteine in their blood were almost twice as likely to be depressed, in comparison to people with the lowest blood levels of homocysteine. Bjelland obtained his findings after scanning blood samples from 5,948 people between the ages of 46 and 49, and screening them for depression and anxiety. Taking Photos While You’re Protecting Your Skin

Monday, February 11th, 2008

By Diana Clarke If you’re a shutterbug like me, and you enjoy taking photos outdoors, you will often find yourself in direct sunlight. Other than protecting yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and by applying sunscreen every two hours, there is one more thing you can do. And it’s good for your photos and you– Take pictures in early morning or late afternoon when the sunlight, including UV light, is less intense. When the sun intensity peaks around noon, and you shoot some pictures, you’re likely to see harsh dark shadows and very bright highlights. These translate into light and dark areas in your photos and an absence of detail. “The worst possible lighting for people portraits is direct sunlight at high noon,” says the editors of Photographic Magazine in Complete Idiot’s Guide to Photography Like a Pro. Besides, if your subject is facing the sun, he or she will undoubtedly be squinting, and the direct sunlight can accentuate wrinkles. On the other hand, if you shoot toward the sun, your subject in your photos may be too dark if you focus on bright areas or too light if you focus on dark areas. The camera compensates for high contrast between light and dark by underexposing or overexposing the film in an attempt to achieve balance between the light and the dark areas. But one solution is to use flash-fill or reflective (card) fill to reduce the contrast of your subject’s face, as well as to remove unattractive, deep shadows. Otherwise, take your photos in the morning before 10 a.m. or wait until later in the day after 4 p.m., when sunlight is less intense and you’re less likely to get a sunburn and skin damage. In the early morning and late afternoon, sunlight has to pass through more atmosphere. Consequently, the blue light is scattered, leaving longer wavelengths, such as red and orange, which are not as easily scattered. When the sun is low in the sky, you’ll be able to capture catch lights in your subjects’ eyes as they look toward the direction of the sun. There will be more ambient (scattered) light and less contrast between light and dark. The result will be more facial detail. And take your people portraits from different camera angles and at different times, from early to mid-morning and then from late afternoon until sunset. Experiment. However, please don’t look through your camera at the sun, nor should your model look directly at the sun. Creating the Perfect Profile for Online Dating

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

By Roman Zazulak If you have already joined or thinking of joining an online dating service, one of the things that you should consider is creating the perfect profile. Online dating profiles are an extremely important resource when communicating who you are to potential singles interested in meeting you. Practically every online dating service allows their members to create unique and individualized personal profiles on who they are, what makes them interesting and what type of person they would like to meet. Lets face it competition can be fierce, if you want to stand out from the crowd, one way to do it is with creating the perfect profile, here are some tips. Be Honest Honesty is extremely important when creating your online profile, while it is easy to exaggerate your positives and minimize your weaknesses in your profile, lying can be a deal breaker. Dont Be So Negative Everyone has pet peeves and bad days, however no one wants to meet or date a person that is constantly complaining or severely depressed. Show the positive side of your personality; convey that you are fun or interesting to be with and not a complete bore. No one wants to date a person that is miserable. State Your Preferences It is important to create a personal profile that gives readers clues on what type of person you are looking for. You might be a person that enjoys social surroundings, you might like intellectual activities or you might enjoy active or extreme sports. Your goal is to find someone compatible, so make sure you communicate what type of person you are looking for. Choose a Good Photo One of the most important parts of your personal profile is your photo. First off, its ok that you dont look like a movie star, but make sure you find a photo that portrays you in a positive light. If you dont have a good photo, ask a friend to take a picture of you. Try to stay away from taking your own picture or using web cams. Choose a good photo that is easy to view. Make sure it is not grainy or dark. Make sure people can see your face. Dont cover it up with a cap or sunglasses. Many online dating services offer you the ability to add 3 or 4 photos. This is a great resource, add a couple of photos while you do activities such as ski or at your favorite outdoor spot. This will give the viewer more information about you. A great tip is to change your photos frequently. While many people might see your first photo, you might get some added interest if two or three weeks later you change your primary photo. Keep Your Personal Profile a Decent Length Your personal profile can vary in length; however try not to make it too long or too short. For instance, dont write two sentences for your profile. Most people will immediately realize that you either have nothing to say or dont care. On the other hand, no one wants to read your life story, if they are interested in you and want to learn more, they will contact you. In his quest for finding the perfect wife, Roman tried every method imaginable until he finally got married to Gigi in 2004. Keep on Singing

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

By Saundra L. Washington The prisoners of Sing Sing, one of the most repressive, oppressive and dehumanizing penal institutions ever erected on the grounds of New York, were prohibited from singing during their incareration. The authorities felt that it would contribute to prison disturbance and ultimately, chaotic discord. Unlike the prisoners of Sing Sing, the prisoners of Babylon were forced to sing. Judah had been invaded by the superpower Babylon, broken under the siege, and their beloved and holy Jerusalem had been crushed. The walls had been broken down, the temple demolished and the surviving Judean people taken helplessly to the homeland of the arrogantly victorious Babylonian army. In Babylon, their captors thought it amusing to force the defeated foreigners to sing hymns and religious songs in their strange language. But the prisoners were overcome by their loss and they asked, “How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?” (Psalms 137:4 NIV). I believe those of us living in the 21st century can relate to the cries of the Judean prisoners. We often hear the term “globalization” which basically refers to the fact that the world has grown smaller and more interconnected. But has it? Many of us are finding ourselves in a strange land without traveling anywhere. America has, in many, many ways, become alien to us, has it not? Technological, cultural, political, religious, agricultural, international changes make us all outdated and foreign as the decades speed by. Familiar landmarks, familiar customs, familiar traditions are things to be found only in the recesses of our memories. With so much of what was once familiar being replaced by the unfamiliar, we find ourselves living in a strange and alien land. The demands on us to “keep up,” “buy this,” “eat right,” “raise your children this way,” “take responsibility,” “defy aging,” “learn a second language,” and so forth, has resulted in many of us finding ourselves residing on unfamiliar ground. How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land? If your experience is at all like mine, you wake in the morning to news of death in the Middle East, news of killings in our own back yard, and we go to bed with the same news, different characters. It wasn’t so long ago that the New York Times reported a study that showed that people who followed the news carefully gets less sleep, particularly those who watch the late night news before going to bed. Our sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles in Iraq are far from home risking their lives with no clear end in sight. We wait and watch the news not knowing exactly what to hope for except for the safe return of our loved ones. Many Iraqis must be feeling the same way. “By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion” (Psalms 137:1 NIV). All over the Middle East and elsewhere there are people far from home in alien territory wondering, How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land? The Christian community is always, in some sense, away from home; a band of exiles whose hopes are fixed on another home, the New Jerusalem. How can we, in the meantime, sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land? We sing because we must. It is not optional, it is obligatory. We must sing it as those prisoners sang it in the Japanese camps in the Pacific. We sing it as Black slaves did in the cotton fields of the south. We sing it as the Jews did in the concentration camps of Auschwitz. We sing it as the soldiers did in Viet Nam. We sing the Lord’s song even though the world is not as it should be. We sing it to sustain us; we sing in defiance; and we sing it as a bold sign to the world of our hope in Jesus Christ. As earth aliens, how can we raise our voices in song when the planet is stressed out and its people spiritually dislocated? We sing the Lord’s song as a gesture of hope, as an act of trust and confidence that God is not finished with the human race yet. We sing the Lord’s song not only to keep our spirits up, not only in defiance to show our dissatisfaction with the way things are, but we sing it in faith. We sing the Lord’s song in the sure and certain hope that the God who has been at work all through human history is still at work and in full control. We will keep on singing, even with tears in our eyes, even with sorrow in our hearts, and even with heavy burdens on our backs. We will sing the Lord’s song because it is a song that defies present realities, refuses to accept that the world has the last word. We sing songs of peace and love, kindness and compassion, justice and equality. We sing, not of what is, but of what will be. We will keep on singing however far from home we may be. As my preacher mentor and spiritual father used to tell the congregation, “Sing children, sing.” Saundra L. Washington, an ordained clergywoman and social worker, has practiced concurrently in the fields of social work and ministry for almost three decades. Good Relationships Result From Smart Dating

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By Melani Ward Dating is sort of a lost art. It seems that many people go out on a date with a person, decide they like them and before they know it they are a “couple”. I say play the odds. Date a lot. This may seem obvious but I often speak with clients and friends who go out with someone and then get really disappointed when it fails to work. When you think about how many different types of people there are and the mental list that we keep in our heads of certain traits and characteristics we want our partner to possess, it would be pretty shocking to find that the first guy you go out with as you embark on this new dating journey is going to be the one. Dating is hard work and while you should to be open to the possibility of finding Mr. or Mrs. Right, you also have to be open to the possibility of finding Mr. or Mrs. Wrong. Dating can give you valuable information about what you want and with each person you date, you may discover something new to add to your lists of wants and dont wants. Everyone you date is leading you closer to the relationship that may take you till death do you part but you have to approach each date positively and accept the gift of clarity it gives you. I have to admit that I did not always follow this rule and unfortunately it got me into a lot of trouble. Thinking back on some of my past relationships I was never one to say that I wanted to take things slowly. I was never that girl. For me it seemed that once there was a connection with a guy and we discovered that we liked spending time with each other, we were immediately joined at the hip. Looking back I know this was not the best approach. For example, my ex-husband and I met and immediately clicked. Before we knew it we were living together. However, we were different in so many of the ways that mattered and we really never should have been together, let alone get married. But, because we were living together and got along incredibly well, it was just too easy to stay on the train. I think there are a lot of people together by default when there really are better matches for them out there they just cut themselves off too soon. Sometimes it is difficult to decipher what is really going in a relationship. Sometimes you will meet someone and you click with them and it feels good right away. Unfortunately, sometimes people confuse clicking with someone with actually knowing them. There is this immediate sense of comfort you feel with some people and it seems as though you have known them your whole life but you still know virtually nothing about them. It puts you into a false sense of understanding and can really confuse things. So, take your time when you are dating and make sure you really know the person and know what you are getting into before you shut yourself off from every other possibility out there. You may find that you are dating someone who has a lot of the qualities you want and need in a partner but that something is not quite right about it. This time, instead of continuing to date someone because you think it is a better alternative than staying home alone, remind yourself that you deserve to have exactly what you want and though continuing to date this person may provide you temporary gratification, it is taking you further away from what you want. I remind my clients about their goals and what they are hoping to accomplish through dating. Then I ask them to reflect on what they are doing and whether or not what they are doing is bringing them closer to their goal. If the answer is no, then stop doing it. Get out there and date!
